Anybody know what the rules are concerning wearing a helmet in a car on the road - I couldn't find in the road code that prohibits it.

Question came up on whether you can wear your helmet or not on a touring stage for targa.

Why would you be stopped wearing a crashhat?

Interesting question... not mentioned in the Motorsport Manual either. I'd have thought you're OK as long as it doesn't impair vision, and given bikers are required to wear them surely they couldn't argue that's the case. Maybe a phone call to LTNZ would clarify?

9 days to Rotorua... driving

re LSTA; better to let sleeping dogs lie. I often tour with my helmet on especially on short touring stages. This year we're both running with hans device also so that will help with the restrictions although its easy enough to disconnect the tethers.

yeah - 9 days to go; and nearly ready as well. Final jobs tomorrow and then out to Pukekohe on Saturday for some practice in the rain. We've got the RS adjustable wing and front splitter fitted now and I've been told its worth at least 2/10ths of a sec per 1000kmwink

There's no problem with this at all - certainly nothing to say you can't do it.

More modest preparations for the 944... clean off the grime from last Sunday's test day at Manfeild, put the stickers on straight (including two HUGE Piston Head logos), and lots of niggly jobs to get through scrutineering.

I wear one all the time now and it has never been mentioned by a cop.

Having done the Targa (in a Sentra) I was pleased to be able to take the helmet off during the touring stages. It can get a bit too hot for my liking.

The lack of a face in that photo is somewhat spooky

It would be a lot spookier if you had to look at the face hehe
