Eric Thompson: Catalyst cuts costly fuel
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/9/story.cfm?c_id...

Have the Heralds motoring journalists completely lost the plot? An article that is really advertizing for the Fuelstar twaddle gets printed in the Herald. It's obviously from 15 years ago as it witters on about valve recession as leaded petrol is being withdrawn. Very sloppy.

http://dansdata.blogsome.com/category/scams/ For a good overview of miracle mileage boosters etc

Cheers

I noticed it and had a similar reaction. Quote: "the turbo, which had not operated for the last 100,000km, resumed operating after just 10km of running with fuelstar"

The 'reporter' must be related to the peddler.

The US EPA also has a list of similar 'fuel-saving' devices that they have tested and found that none have worked.

Same with MotorUp which they've thrashing on the radio. When will the public ever get it? If any of these additives did anything they'd be fitted as standard!!! I just don't understand how they can be allowed to sell this kind of snake oil goo without being taken to court.

Read this and sputter into your keyboard. Nanofuel saver - available in NZ xmas

Some idiot said:
Nano Fuel Saver uses both the latest nanotechnology and the principle of FIR to make your driving experience extraordinary. After installation, it absorbs the heat energy from engine to lead out FIR thermal energy to minify fuel’s molecules, purify impurities contained in the fuel, advance atomization effect, enhance complete combustion, increase horsepower and torque, improve fuel economy, reduce engine vibration, faster acceleration, cut down fuel consumption, reduce engine carbon build-up, reduce toxic exhaust emissions to diminish air pollution, keep the engine in optimum condition to extend its lifetime, easy installation, no engine refit, and no chemical additive.

In layman’s terms the Nano FuelSaver is a tube impregnated with nano-particles. When this tube gets heated up, it creates a wave called Far Infrared Ray (FIR). FIR is a part of the invisible light spectrum and it is in between visible light and microwave but not harmful to the human at all. In fact scientists call it the 'light of life'.

This ray has a major effect on the petrol and diesel by resonating the fuel molecules in the fuel and preventing clustering of the hydrocarbons. Also this resonance makes the fuel molecules to be smaller. This is really like pumping high octane fuel into your car (i.e. super petrol/diesel). This allows the fuel and air to be mixed more evenly and efficiently before it is delivered into the engine for combustion.

The overall result is more complete combustion. More of the fuel is used for powering the car, and less is lost as harmful emissions as carbon monoxide.
It gets even better...

he said she said:

The Nano Fuel Saver is a tube of rubber impregnated with nano-particles of a mineral ore selected for it Far Infra-Red (FIR) characteristics. FIR is part of the invisible light spectrum associated with heat.
In other words it's a rubber tube laugh

As for the Herald story - are they that desperate for advertising dollars, I see they took a bit of heat last time they published a story about Fuelsaver http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/9/story.cfm?c_id...

Not entirely related but much the same advertising in the form of an article appeared in the press for Xbox 360's.
