Was a good weekends racing, great variety of machinery and the Cam-Am cars in particular were very impressive smile going well over 300km/h up the back straight and setting a quickest lap around 54sec (Lap record 51.2, Greg Murphy in a Formula Holden). Sounded cloud9 too biggrin

Anyway, some photos for you...

hehe No press jacket, Teretonga is just a remarkably photo-friendly circuit smile(and I don't bother posting the bad ones tongue out)

That ex-TWR Rover is quick too, was leading the 'musclecar' race by quite a margin before spinning on the last corner of the last lap. A bit down on power next to the Mustangs etc but makes it up under brakes and in the corners.

The red Elan was just phenomenal in the corners, but still beaten by a white '60s TVR Tuscan (with a Ford 302 V8 in it) which just walked away from everything and iirc was lapping in the 1:03's by the end of Sunday. Unfortunately failed to get any decent shots of it, but there should be some in the equivalent thread from last year tongue out

Tuscan is Jack Ondrack's car... Canadian doctor that flies out to race it in such events smile (or so I believe... also believe it's not a real Tuscan, but could be mistaken) Red Elan looks sex smile

Great photos. Wish mine turned out like that

The Elan looks great, but it used to look better without the roof tongue out

I'll get my act together and post some of my pics too. Because I was standing next to Ben I won't put up double ups, but I think I got a couple of Jacks TVR amongst others.

For my 2 cents worth was great weekends racing. Highlights have to be those CanAms, the muscle car race in which Alan Dipie in the Rover was cleaning up (Until last corner of the race, gutted), The red Lotus Elan, The Porsche GT3 Cup car running in the "clubmans" Category and the V8 Ford Capri giving him a run for his money down the straight before the GT3 came into its own in the corners and then proceeded to wiped the floor with everyone else. But honestly the sound of those CanAms hauling up the straight cloud9

Here's something good about the Town of Gore, (where I proudly live) an article in the local newspaper.

The TVR Tuscan V8 was rebuilt for Jack Ondrack in 2000 by Greg Elder a car builder from Riversdale, (20mins from Gore), with Alex Brown, (another local I think) and the Engine a 302 ci Ford V8 built by Jack McIntyre from Gore.

Greg, Alex and Jack M prep the car each season for the SFOS and have some "plans" for it for next season. I should try and meet these guys, Gore ain't that big.

About the SFOS Ondrack and the TVR won all 9 events he entered at Teretonga. Apparently Mr Ondrack is 68 years old and was Ice Racing champion in Canada for four years in a row. Explains why he can drive.

Quote from Jack "Driving cars is fun, the rest of life is boring".

I went along to SFOS Levels a few weekends ago.
Unfortunately the camera batteries died, and the spares were flat too! frown

Because of the NIMBYs that live around Levels the Cam-Ams had to run some noise reduction gear, but to me the still sounded cloud9

Hopefully they'll be back next year, if so I'll make the trip to Ruapuna where they run unrestricted.

Makes me sick. Levels was there before most of the Locals! And it's not like Levels is used every 3 days. What's 1-2 weekends a year of noise? soapbox

Thanks for posting the pic of the TVR, its always handy to study tyre pics during corners etc and give us a clue as to what we might need to do to make it better. For some reason not many people take pics of it, other than when Jack tries to demonstrate its off road capabilities- of which it has nonesmile!
Its also the first time I have seen an action pic of Pierres Capri ( White-red/blue stripes ) since I built it, seems to be doing most things right, now he just needs to start using the brakes.smile cheers
