Alcantara fabric for car seats
Discussion
Before I spend half a day ringing around trying to find the proper stuff, has anyone got a NZ supplier they have used before?
One of the bolsters in the drivers seat is worn through, so the seat will be coming out to get fixed.
The colour match of the material will have to be bang on too.

Kylie,
Have you tried the Lotus Trim Shop (as in Hethel). Provided you don't have to ship the whole seat over (is the bolster removable?) then they do a TOP job for very little money and it's OEM-Lotus so you know they'll get it right.... all the little trim bits for Elises (and all models) through there they do on either a recon-exchange basis or fix-and-return.

Yeah they will do all that, but there must be some pretty clever kiwis who do this kind of restoration work all day long which I am sure it can be sorted here. It would cost mega bucks to send over a heavy seat (vertually a std 99 V8 retrimmed seat) just for a panel repalcement. Wouldnt make sense. I know I could find some material overseas and ship it over here, but nice if someone had the material here already to save me the hassle. Car is with Ken still so I cant take another quick look. Hes finishing off the compliance work and loosened the seat mounting bolts so the old coot can see the seat belt fixings
. Might pop over on Sat and take pics of the offending area on the seat, so atleast I can get some quotes. Pretty sure its just worn on the material side and not the leather.

Auckland Auto trimmers and Sunroof. Their work was good but they took their time….
He had some very specialized work done on his 993 there. I personally would have not noticed that work had been done in it it was that factory looking. Mark has very high standards and an eye for detail and was fairly happy with the result and that's saying something. I'll post up a pick when I get home if I can find them.

Forget the alcantara and get all the high wear bolsters retrimmed in leather. It makes much more sense in those areas, looks nicer and raises the ambience of the interior. IMHO of course!
Those trim and sunroof guys are a Recaro dealer off of Gt North Road aren't they? I saw a Nissan GTR they were trimming completely in leather - doors, dash, ceiling the whole lot - fantastic job. That was seven years ago though....
