Well there was a huge Hot Rod show at Rangiora this weekend with over 1000 rods on display, anyone go?? Mum rang me last night and said Dads just won the overall prize for best car. Dads over the moon as its the first time the car has been to an event, its not long finished after a 10yr build love affair!! He was swamped with people at the show and couldnt get away from the car. When he did manage to and came back to it, he was pinned down for interviews by NZ Hotrod Mag and a photo shoot after the show. He has to take car back to CHCH this week for them to take more pics of car on hoist etc so they can get the detail underneath. Should be in mag March or April this year.
Some of you have already seen these pics I took at Xmas time. These pics dont do it justice or show the detail work of the one off billet parts hes made.

He extended the bonnet length by approx 20cm for a sleeker stance, so major mods were needed for chassis etc. Looks awesome in the flesh.

Dad said hes had some offers of over 120K to buy it, but hes committed to another South Island show in March. So see how he goes. I say he should sell it build another!!

Awesome !!! thumbup

Congratulations to 'Dad'

I hope he gets to enjoy it for a decent while before selling it for another build. It might be about the journey but the destination is also important.smile

Yip its a minter! He does really enjoy the making side of things. Being able to drive the final result is a bonus for him and now its paying off. He said that if he ever built another, he could do so in around 2 yrs. Hes kept all the patterns he made and drawings and can eliminate the mistakes he made which set him back on this one.

Would he build another the same? Often its the challenge and improvisation which keeps people motivated on projects, repeating the same thing could be a bit boring for him?
