Hit and Run outside my house this morning

About 4.30 this morning I was woken by one hell of a bang then the sound of a car screaming off down the road.
Looked outside and this is what I found



The car is a mate of one of my neighbours.
Whoever did it then just decided to drive off.
As the car is parked on yellow lines on a footpath insurance wont cover it, so understandably the owner is rather annoyed.

I don't see why an insurance company shouldn't pay out - that's what they are there for. Just because an "alleged" parking offence has been committed, doesn't alter their liability. If they could always get out of paying because they thought "someone" had done something wrong there wouldn't be any point in having insurance.

Perhaps you are right. If the car wasnt parked where it shouldn't have been it wouldn't have happened though so at the least I'd expect a battle.

After I put up that post they tracked down the culprit. Was an E30 BMW from along the road, drunk with no insurance. Guy seems happy to pay apparently, but who knows how he'll react when he finds out how much its going to cost.

Glad its not my problem
