We're off to Vietnam for 3 weeks in January with a couple of days in HK on the way. Nothing but flights booked so far but we're thinking a bit of hill walking in the north, bit of time on a beach and not sure what else. Anyone here been?

Lived in Hong Kong for 9.5yrs. Left 12/05.

To see/do:
Sea food: on Lamma Island, Yung Shue Wan village, nice ferry trip
Shopping, Causeway Bay or Temple Street Night Market, avoid Tsim Sha Tsui its touristy and a rip off
For sight seeing: Stanley Beach, Hong Kong Park, Central Plaza Observation floor, Trip on newish West Rail train line (worked on that as well), Big Budha (and cable car - I worked for Architect during design/construction) on Lantau Island, if possible, take bus from airport to hotel, Star ferry trip across harbour.
If going single, Wanchai for nightlife entertainment, if not Lang Qwai Fong (spelling ?)
Cant comment on Vietnam, havent been.
