Took this out my bedroom window a couple of mornings ago:

(~1200px wide, click to resize)

Also get to do some work in places with views too:

(big 2700px wide, click to resize)

Anyone else have interesting views from where they live/work? Post'em up here to distract me from my study smile

Am I right in assuming someone just got a new camera/lens? smile

I've got no views really where I work/live... unless you count the bright lights of Glen-Innes and an industial park as being "views"

Nope - though did spend a while this evening looking at dSLR's on the net trying to decide which one I'll buy once I'm working and have the money biggrin

If I was buying tomorrow it would be a toss-up between Nikon D80 and Pentax K10D I think, though the Canon 400d could still be an option too scratchchin

The things you do to put off studying for exams eh...

Oh yeah, forgot it was a holiday today, they don't really make much difference when you're a student. Working a public holiday, and for free too, that's commitment! Hopefully I don't end up having to that much (or at all) after I graduate.

Wasn't a matter of having to, was in there doing a home job and decided I'd make my job for the week easier by getting a headstart on things while it's quiet. smile

Here's an appalling cut'n'paste pic.

Balancing on the scaffolding at my new house on a hazy and windy day.

Nice view!! Are the sections in front of you going to be built or its part of yours? Will your views still be secure if houses go up infront?

I take it the garage is going to be larger than normal sized one biggrin

If you can stretch to the D80 then get it, next favorite would be the 400D, and the Pentax last. D80 is the best body and has huge range of lenses, 400D is a bit more affordable and uses all Canon lenses, Pentax doesn't have the same range of lenses I think (pretty sure its not a Nikon mount). One of the reasons I went for a 400D over a D80 or 30D was that it left me money to buy a decent lense, which is arguably more important than the body. Now I'm contemplating spending as much as I spent on body plus lense just to get a decent long lense!

Back on topic...

The view from my flat and work isn't too interesting, but check out the view from where I stayed in Melbourne last weekend. I have some great 'stitch' shots from around NZ as well taken with my old IXUS400.

I'm actually leaning towards the Pentax at the moment - similar spec to the others (10MP etc) but anti-shake sensor (so you don't need VR lenses etc which saves you money there) and much much better weather sealing than the D80 or 400D - more equivalent to D200 in that respect, which is potentially very useful as a lot of my photography is done up the mountains where weather is often crap, or at rallies which are pretty dusty (and the weather is often crap tongue out ). According the sales guy in a shop I dropped into a couple of days ago the Pentax is compatible with a much wider variety of lenses than the others, but Pentax don't have that many dSLR specific lenses out yet. (he also reckoned Pentax lenses were cheaper for equivalent quality than Canon or Nikon)

The D80 apparently has the best image quality of the 3, and more in the way of manual controls and pro-type features (which I'd have to learn to use). Having used a mates D50 I like the feel and workings of Nikons though, so I'll try and find a shop with both the D80 and the K10D and have a play with them.

The 400D would be last choice of those for me, it does have the advantage of being a bit smaller and lighter than the others but I didn't really like the feel of it that much in the shop, I guess you'd get used to it but it does feel that extra bit cheaper than the others. Spending less on a body would leave more $$ free to spend on lenses, but if the lenses are more expensive it cancels that out a bit.

Anything in particular you can think of that I've missed in my reasoning? I'll probably try and make myself put it off until I start proper work at the end of the year anyway, but you never know, sometimes deals come up...

ETA: I like that third shot yours (with the buildings in the middle), nice angle on the city.

This has been a world record slow build. When it started I didn't even know what a XTR2 was.

Pentax has issues shooting fast & meetering right? IMO the 400D is the best (motor)sport option & probably will get the best resultant pics.

Heres a couple from my dick at home:
