best place to start youngsters off in motorsport

I have a five year old nephew that id like to introduce to some form of petrol heading(not bikes,my sister would never speak to me again..)
Is there any place in Auckland where there's some slow carts in a safe environment.

I'd be inclined to go to the Mt Wellington Kart Club for a look-see on a junior club day and see if he likes the idea. The parents there tend to be quite approachable.

Midget karts start from 5 years old and is a great form of competetive motorsport... assuming they still do the class, they're powered by iron-horse mower/chainsaw engines and are a good stepping-stone up to the KT100 kart classes that he'll step up into from there at about age 9-10.

Yip...Pull the cord the plug pops off and the engine dies. It also has a govener on the throttle to limit throttle range.
