Kelly was driving her GTi home from work today when some dozy bint pulled out of a give way. Kelly took evasive action but it wasn't enough and her previously IMMACULATE puggy is now very bent Basically the end of the driver's door is slightly damaged but between there and the rear wheelarch is badly stoved in, it's wrecked the skirt and it's even pushed the panel in so hard that it's rippled the C-pillar up around where the fake LHS fuel cap trim is.

Getting the insurance involved tomorrow, the other lady is trying to deny fault (good luck to her, she'll need it!) and the poor old pug looks VERY second hand. Rather heartbreaking to see such a straight car munched in this way

Good news is it looks pretty repairable but it won't be cheap!

Any of the Kiwis on here know who the best repairer is? We're going to nominate Continental Car Services as they're the main dealer and they'll do the best job we think... can anyone else back this up?

That's not good. weeping

Is Kelly OK? I find that lots of swearing is generally a good indication that people are OK. You need to watch the ones who go quiet.

The idea that the chassis might not be quite right again worries me a bit. When my GT-Four got rear-ended I insisted on getting a laser alignment and a good test drive to ensure everything was fine before 'accepting' the repairs.

A visual check just isn't enough.

Sorry can't recommend a good repairer for an exotic.

Kelly's fine. It was more of a graze accident than a shunt.

We THINK the chassis is ok, although I'll leave that up to the repairer to check. The rear wheel's taken a SMALL knock so we'll insist that the chassis is checked over with the proverbial fine-toothed comb. Just by looking at it though it all LOOKs non-structural, but until I can get it on the hoist and have a look, then I'd not rule it out.

Am glad shes fine and well insured..??, the offender......what a B..ch!! I hope Kelly got all her details in time. Id be hunting her down if the offenders insurance co wasnt fronting up!!!

I'd take it to the specialists as you have mentioned. Am sure they work with their panel beaters on a daily basis. All I can say is when I got rear ended in my subaru and a panel beater did the work they failed to see a small swage that was ever so slightly dented and it bugged me for months. I couldnt be bothered taking it back to get it done so I left it. So yeah every single little detail you can see even if its a teeny weeny mark, even a deeply grazed tire get it all replaced.
Good luck mate. Shes lucky to have someone like yourself to help her sort it

Yeah fully insured, but we'd like to prove no-fault so we don't lose no claims and pay excess

Car's getting checked out for alignment today so we may be able to drive it away for Chrismtas yet

Yeah we'll be VERY exacting about the work done, don't worry

If it was the Elise, I'd agree with you... bit of bog and she'll be sweet.... but it's SWMBO's beloved Pug... so it'll need the red-carpet treatment.

Good news is it's been on the chassis machine and the wheels are all pointing where they should be so it looks like no structural damage We'll probably take it away over Chrimbo and then get it booked in first week in Jan to get the panelwork taken care of.

from memory, Contis use Ray Hasler or Porana Panel - at least for their p-cars.

We'll be visiting also on our return to AK - got hit by a train on the ferry
