just a bit of work to finish....www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=72798535&key=233950
There's a company down south (ashburton?) that does DAMNED fine D-type/XKSS and C-type replicas... they'd be my pic... a replica is a replica (so long as it's a faithful and detailed one) and there's little point paying megabucks for a particular brand over another unless there's a large gulf in quality.

Oamaru iirc - they have a reputation for being replicas so good they're better than the originals
There are some "purists" out there who frown on that
If you can make it NOT drop oil on the driveway, NOT have a fortnightly electrical fire, and NOT breakdown every five minutes what's the problem ?
Quiet in the cheap seats . . . it was the (hopefully) one remaining original relay. Now replaced and running

Heheh  my lips are sealed How's that reverse gear going Graham?
Hehe nah don't I know it... with the E-type, the whole sodding thing's been rebuilt, nearly every component is new or refurbished, yet it's still difficult to keep the thing oiltight and the prince of darnkess occasionally rears its ugly head (although surprisingly, the most dodgy electrical things that have been on there are the modern, japanese-made bits!!!!)

The Tempero on Trade me is the same company in Oamaru. The body is hand beaten in alloy over bucks $14,000 wouldn't even sniff at getting someone to make the same body today. As the ad says Tempero don't sell the bodies for the home handy man to finish now. There have been a couple of C & D type replica builders in New Zealand over the years. One offered frp or alloy bodies. From memory the alloy option added $20,000. Ouch
Cheers
