Anyone going to this coming up in Nov? Unfortunately it clashes with Taupo Sprints I think so some of you will miss it. CLNZ race committee will be committed to Taupo so we wont have much to do with it. I am not doing Taupo so thought I might go out and show some support not to mention a great street race for the old bangers 
Whats your views on the red tape associated with street racing? A lot of people have opposed this due to the potential problems if someone gets seriously injured esp with the public. I dont see how it can differ from rally where people are exposed all the time. Surely common sense applies. Sorry if I sound a bit green here.

Sponsored by Lotus Cars New Zealand, New Zealand Classic Car magazine, and the Glenbrook Vintage Railway on Behalf of the Starship Foundation, the second annual Concourso Euro takes place on the November 25 and 26 on the premises of Lotus Cars New Zealand, 167 Kitchener Rd, Waiuku. Planned as an annual event to the Classic Car Tour and Concourse - The Waiuku Flying 50, a classic 'round the houses' race in style of the Waimate 50.
The Waiuku Flying 50 will be open to all European classic and sports cars built between 1900 and 1975 and will run on the main streets of Waiuku township in Franklin County.
This 'round the houses' event is designed to recreate the street race events of the '60s with standard or near-standard classic and sports cars of the period racing their way around a genuine street circuit - providing a spectacle sadly missing from today's motor-sport events. Supported by Motorsport New Zealand, and the Franklin District Council, this event will add a unique attraction to the Concourso Euro weekend.
There will be plenty of parking and spectator viewing points throughout the rolling and winding street track. In addition, numerous period restaurants will be open to cater for race patrons, allowing them to dine whilst watching the event from their tables.
The following vehicle classes are eligible for the Waiuku Flying 50:
Pre-1955: European open class
1955-75: up to 1.5 Litre European Sedans
1955-75: 1.5 - three litre European sedans
1955-75: three to 4.2 litre European sedans
1955-75: sub two-litre European Sports and GT cars
1955-75: over two-litre European Sports and GT cars
Concourso Euro commences at 8am on Saturday, November 25 from the grounds of Lotus Cars - for the Glenn Murray / Pukekohe Classic Tour, with all European cars eligible.
Following lunch in Waiuku, the Waiuku Flying 50 commences at 1pm, finishing at 5pm - with three sprints in each class.
On Sunday, November 26 the Concourso Euro commences at 10am, with gates open to the public from midday. All European cars are eligible for Concourso Euro. The event finishes at 3.30pm.
Members of the public and competitors are encouraged to dress in period costume to help get into the spirit of the Concourso Euro. The Glenbrook vintage Railway will be operating steam train tours on the hour from the grounds of Lotus Cars.
All funds raised from the weekend will be donated to The Starship Foundation. It promises to be a rewarding experience for motoring enthusiats and the general public alike.

They are only using the small track this time 
If they decided to use a bigger track would be worth the trip down. Don't get me wrong any track time is better than nothing, but I am hanging out for something decent. And yes am pushing this past the too gooders to get this full track ! Do I appear to be cranky today?

Sorry, that's my question, or questions really.
How does one get in on the LoT days?
And what track will they be using in Taupo?
I'd hate to think that after coming all that way (and spending all that money) they are being subjected to a kiddie oval.
I also will find it hard to get enthused with the up(down)-graded old circuit. We were down there last weekend with PCNZ and ran the full circuit using the tight right/ left join to the old track - I don't think the removal of the old infield esses makes it much faster in this config but definetly will with the new A1 right hand sweeper.

Just read in the local rag that the Waiuku 50 has run into 'regulatory' issues and will now be held at the Puke circuit instead.

Yep the club Lotus Race committee has committed to Taupo this same weekend to to run a CLNZ event. Its only going to be held on track No.1? which is 1.3km long!! All they could get apparently. I think entries will be sent out soon.
Shame its all the same weekened. Our club couldn't really commit to the Waiuku 50 due to not enough resources and basically in the too hard basket. Shame really would have been a cracker event
