OK team what do you think the Londa is worth on the open market in NZ ??
You can read up on this thread about her - www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=295665&f=123&h=0

What is a 3.8 second 0-100 kph, 1:08 Pukie (road rubber), 1:17 Manfield (stickies) with me driving so factor in a few seconds for that - slower..........

Thinking of doing the November LOT tour and then putting the car on the market, put the bulk of the money into the house and then to keep myself sane either:

Buy Rotax Kart
Buy chassis to start a project car (2 - 3 year build type thing)
Buy small race car (civic or similar) to fluff about on and race...
Win Lotto !!!! my personal fav.....

I know this has been asked before - but now it's crunch time as need cash 4 house build $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm so confused !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whats it worth? more than I can afford anyway...

If your aim is to free up money for the house then I imagine racing would not be a good option at all, fun as it may be.

The upper limit would be the cost of doing it again. What would that be?

Then you could try proportionate offsetting by looking at known sales of the closest things available to get down to a probable market value. I'd think only Elise, Exige & VX220 sales would qualify for offsetting.

What else would be in the same market ? ¿ ?

Then there's how quickly you need to sell. This is a smallish market and a fire-sale would really hurt.

I suppose one upside is that there is an existing enthusiasts group. I'd focus on selling to those people you beat around the track. hehe

Get a Series 5 RX7 if you want a race car to keep you entertained in the mean time. For 10k you could have one with a rebuilt engine and overhauled gearbox and some decent brakes. Throw another 5-7 grand at it and you'd have a pretty happy 350-400HP.

As for the Londa, I'll blame not being able to buy it on being in Australia. There is the small matter of the 50-60k I don't have, but blaming the Tasman helps me sleep at night.

Dean, as I've said before, I'd say $55k at a minimum, possibly a bit more with your spare set of wheels/tyres. But yeah, in the end it depends.... Elises don't tend to move that fast unless they're a REAL bargain, although they sell pretty well in summer, so you'll be in luck in that respect.

But yeah, who knows what the market will stand, it's a matter of finding the right person. I'd be advertising it on all the "boyracer" haunts, because your car is truly a headline-number performer and pretty much the fastest thing on the road and so chances are that you'll probably find some Asian student with a bag of parental cash that'll be keen to take it off your hands for you.

I'd snap it up myself in an instant, but I've not got nearly enough money!

Dean

I'll be sorry to see you sell it, I'll miss the top fun of overtaking all the riceburners at Manfield with you. Still if you buy the Rotax kart we might meet up on the little tracks again sometime.
I have my first club race in mine on Sunday.. and am hoping not to crack my ribs again.. it took nearly 2 months to get over it last time.

Trust me Iain, there will be tears when she goes, it's a matter of money, not and urge to move on....

If I had any grand parents left, I'd be putting them on trade me before selling my beloved Londa!

(as he looks up checking for lightning.......)

Buy a chassis or project car or this www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Specialist-cars/Competition-cars/auction-70858819.htm for laughs but reshell it with something nicer looking.

I would have thought something like this would be a bit more like it.

Kiwi Car Guy - I'll take one of those blonde things in the last photo please.......

XTR - not far off what I want to do, rather the EG as it's lighter and put the same engine I have now in my daily drive Civic, buy something already caged would be cheaper, but then thats no fun building it ???

No consents...very long story - crunch time in the next few weeks, waiting for costs to down size.

Options at present:

A - chuck it in, sell property, buy something done. (keep Londa)
B - sell Londa put money into building house, buy small race car as mentioned above.
C - sell Londa put money into building house, buy Rotax Kart
D - sell Londa put money into building house, buy old Elise chassis to staret project car keep me really poor for the next 4 years......
E - win Lotto, keep Londa, buy Exige Honda SC, BMW X5 to tow it, sell property, buy Mission Bay House & retire (it will have to be at least a $ 10 mil win though.....give or take a mil !!!

Dean, I'm liking option E.... you can win it the week after I do ok? .... our garage will be similar... although my choice of tow wagon would be a Supercharged Rangie

Option A, much easier, not stressful as someone else has done the dirty work for you. Keep Londa.

Dean you've tossed and turned for months over this. My advice stands, you can sleep in the Elise (just) but you can't drive a house.

You'll regret selling it I guarantee it. Picture yourself in 20 years telling the kids I used to own one of those cars, and kids asking you why you were so stupid to sell it. My father-in-law had an E-type in the early 70's that's what he tells me these days..

Tough it out man, I've already given you car AND house options - hint.. neighbor
