Just heard on the news, Peter Brock is believed dead in an accident on the Targa in WA.... report is as yet unconfirmed.

Let's hope it's not true

If it is, then Australasian Motorsport has lost one of its brightest stars

I was never a Brock fan, but you can't deny he was THE man.

RIP.

Sorry about the thread title, meant the Targa West, not the Targa Tasmania.

He was driving the same car as he intended to bring to NZ and its pretty distinctive so the reports are probably quite accurate. Not a good week for Australian icons...

Pretty final. RIP Brock. Its tragic to see this come hot on the heels of comments in the other thread about how ridiculously fast the Targa cars are getting. The road simply isn't the place for the sort of speeds they're getting up to and they simply can't provide the run off or safety barriers that proper race tracks can.

Awesome driver. Very sad loss.

Even watched him on TV in UK when I was growing up. "World of Sport" always used to cover Bathhurst and there always seemed to be him and Jim Richards(?)to the fore. Seems wrong to have gone the way he has. A bit like Mike Hailwood.

Very sad day , bad week actually with losing the croc man and all. The car is that a Aussie made cobra/speedster type thingy? Sorry but it was really beautiful couldnt get a decent look at it.

RIP King of the Hill

The car was a Superformance Cobra Daytona coupe replica. Incidentally, the original Cobra Daytona was designed by another guy called Peter Brock.
