Did anyone go along to Turners Classic and Sportscar auction at the weekend? I was just wondering whether the GTD40 sold and what it made. A chap at work was rather interested in it but had other commitments to attend.

I got all excited when I saw someone had replied and it was only you with a silly comment!

Just for you Jamie...

Description from Turners.
5000cc V8 Manual 5spd.
Built here in New Zealand from a United Kingdom sourced GTD kit that was built by a professional race mechanic who used all new components.Since then it has travelled only 11300 miles and is finished in bright red with white stripe and black leather.

Looks fabulous and performance to spare.

The sales rep said the owner was looking for something in the $60's

Smart bum

I'd actually put "Somewhere in the $60K's" and it sounded funny so I changed it.

What the hell kind of (gearshift) grid pattern is that? Looks counter-intuitive and cumbersome to me.

If its anything like most dogleg boxes then 1st is on the far left, and its currently sitting in 3rd, with reverse on the right. Basically it means in your normal racing gear use you only have one cross-plane shift (3-4) rather than 2-3 and 4-5 like in a normal h-box.

Looks like a standard Renault gearshift pattern except back to front - and being an English replica, will more than likely have the Renault 'box.
