Only in bloody Auckland innit This place is really going to the dogs... this was spotted in Remuera this morning:

Goes to show further that even in a nice suburb you can't leave your P&J out even FOR ONE NIGHT!

Stupid thing is that the wheels are worthless as I'm doubting they'll fit on anything and they'll instantly be recognisable as Aston wheels.... this means that they've more than likely been stolen for no reason

GAH I hate criminals And they seem to be getting more tenacious and more prevalent, particularly in this part of the country

scrotes.

To be honest there is no street in Auckland I'd leave an Aston on the street overnight.

On the upside the quality paintwork would be a good surface for getting prints.

And we can see the weight balance.

Yeah, I agree.

Parking an Aston on the street overnight is criminal!
Bloody Aucklanders ;-)

Oh yeah for sure.... but sometimes you have no option... what if this person was someone's houseguest. My Lotus ALWAYS lives inside, but sometimes it parks outside hotels at trackdays or might stay outside overnight if there was some unavoidable event where the garage wasn't available. Of course I try to park it in behind other cars and stuff, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

It's a sad indictment on our society that now this has become so acceptable and low-priority for the police..... if someone was caught doing something like that to ANY of my cars then I can assure you the Police would be having to open a rather more serious enquiry.

Oh and welcome in 6FIEND This is a slightly quieter place than the NZPC forums, but it's a nice place and the blokes on the Japchat forum would certainly appreciate your track monster

That's Herne Bay isn't it?. I drive past it almost daily and it always amazes me that someone who can afford to own an A>M doesn't have OSP

It looked to me like Remuera, but that was going on the house, not the car so maybe it is Herne bay.... either way it's not exactly Otara.

Anyway, the point of my rant still stands.... if this sorta behaviour is so commonplace now, where will we be in 10 years time?

Your right George about leaving the cars out over night. When ever we go away in the Ltus, we try and go to places that have proper storage or out of sight parking. Otherwise we never go or leave the car alone for too long. Auckland does suck for this reason its a real shame eh! I even hate driving through crappy suburbs incase the unknown happens

I know the feeling. When I drove the Elise across the States, I discovered going below 30 bucks a night in a Hotel meant I got greeted by some 'ladies of the night' before I even made it to reception. If that wasn't bad enough the parking was pretty dodgy to say the least.

It's been like that for a long time in NZ.

Leaving a car like an Aston out on the road overnight, even in a flash suburb, is foolish in the extreme, I believe there is an old adage that starts off like, 'Fools and their money...'

The owner is lucky they didn't take the whole car, as we already know, the NZ police can't keep up with a stolen Aston...

Fortunately its nowhere near as bad down here, probably the biggest problem for cars in Dunedin is the broken glass that ends up lying around all over the streets from student piss-ups. I guess its inevitable that there'll be more crime in bigger cities - a friend of mine who moved to Auckland this year was kinda mugged recently, someone just reached out a car window and grabbed her laptop off her as they drove past. She got the number plate, but it was a stolen car which had done the same thing to 3 or 4 others than night already.

Its just a pity the cops aren't doing anything about it instead of sitting on their arses taking photos of cars doing 111kph

Maybe Auckland should break away and be its own country, i'm kinda getting sick of reading/hearing about all the crime and the fact that it gets first priority with Transit despite there being heaps more deadly stretches of road around the country.

It's simple really, most Journalists prefer to live in the cities, where there is proportionally more to report on, hence the main stream media, also based in big cities is also biased to producing more city based news.

This is mainly down to economics (& scale) again, if you can make the lives of 40% of the population easier, why worry about the .4%, especially if you're trying to win votes at the next election...

Auckland's biggest flaw is that it was allowed to spread to far, and who's to blame for that? The majority of the people who live there? No, the poor planning foresight amongst 4 competing councils & their respective Majoral egos...

Is this a problem (or population trend) unique to NZ (or Auckland), not a chance...

So the tires would insulate the charge from reaching earth until such times as the criminal touched the metal bits you say…

Unless they were wearing rubber trainers equal to or larger in resistance to the tyres themselves.... but I'm sure if the voltage was high enough it could work

I think most people get down on their knee when unbolting wheels, I could be wrong though if they are ultra flexible.
