Long story short, got the AGM for our Skyline club coming up soon, so i have (well, don't have to) to make the trip from Dunners to Christchurch in a day.

Should hopefully get there early in the afternoon and i'd like to be able to go car spotting (not many exotics in Dunedin - did see our Ferrari 550 Barchetta driving past Queens Gardens on Saturday though) until the meeting (at the place i still have to find out how to get to!).

Mainly looking for exotics like any Aston Martins (old or new), Porsches (prefer newer, as there seem to be heaps of pre '00 Porsches in the Dunedin area), Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, Dodge Vipers and more. Lotus Elises etc would be nice too, as i've only ever seen one so far (pics below: spotted in Alexandra and it was competing in the annual drag race event in 2004 - did 13's i think).

Can anyone help with locations (of the Ferarri F40 especially - located in a model toy shop?) and whether or not you're allowed to take photos of them? I'll try dress up in tidy clothes so that i'm less likely to be kicked off car yards, but i'm still really worried it will happen.

Ferrari stuff likely to be at a shop called Fazzaz (sp?) if it still exists, can't remeber exact location but I think its near the police station (in town centre)

the shop specialises in all sorts of auto memorabilia as well as models, and from memory especially focussed on italian exotic type stuff.

Fazzers is in the center of christchurch next to the bus exchange, last time I was in they had an F40 and a 328 (I think).

If I get chance I'll have a wander down at lunchtime see whats in there.

It's on Lichfield Street.

That Elise looks rather tasty... judging by the looks I'd say it's a Sport 160 or similar, although possibly a more standard Elise with some work done to it.

Fazazz dont have the F40 in at the moment.

They do have a maser Bi-turbo convertable, 308 GT, Testarossa, McGregor 7 ripoff, v12 E-Type conv, lotus 33(/) replica and a lotus elan se, + bently conv and a whole load of classics.

Still sounds like a few interesting cars. You wouldn't know if the F40 would be there on June 5th do you? Does it have a website or anything?

And thanks a lot for the replies people.

www.fazazz.co.nz/

Theres some more likely spots to see exotica but no definates. Friday/saturday night town cruises and places like Sumner esplanade have some decent metal around, as does the road to Akaroa on sudays etc but nowhere you can see car x at a specific time.

edit :

Dont think the Ghibli or c-type are still there either. Nor is the fezza 400i & the mecherscmit is marked as sold.

Their website lists a C-type, which isnt there, neither is the D-type so its a moot point...

Gavin Bain has a whole shed full of interesting cars, he just wheels them out and puts them on display in his shop when theres not enough interesting customer cars in there.

From memory hes got at least an F40, a genuine D type, a bugatti type 35, a similar era bugatti road car, a 60s testarossa which raced at le mans etc etc

Awesome, hopefully i'll be able to check out that place if i make it up there. Thanks a lot guys, but looks as though i'm going to have to buy a new Chch map as i think the one we have was made in the early 90s or late 80's maybe.

Is that the place with the real GT40 in it? My brother keeps telling me about it, but i still haven't been to that part of the town yet. Might go check it out if they are open.

I remember seeing a real T70 at a Pink Floyd concert . . . but there may be another explanation.

I remember seeing a picture of a T70, on the internet.

But I really wouldn't mind one of these replicas:
I'd have to learn to drive properly though
