more gratuitous rally photos from me , its a great event. Classics, National Series and local allcomers running through the same stages (over 80 cars on the road) makes for excellent viewing.

anyway, overall top 5 results were:

1) Chris West - Subaru (STi '06)
2) Richard Mason - Subaru - only lost by 0.2 of a second!
3) Sam Murray - Subaru (about 2 minutes down)
4) Emma Gilmour - Subaru - The best female rally driver we've had in NZ I think, she's improved a lot.
5) Pasi Hagstrom - 1980 Ford Escort RS1800 (4 min down on West)

and now for the photos (have resized but may take a while to download)

fairly extreme wee 106 maxi - flared guards, LHD, 6-spd sequential. pretty quick little car.

A brave man - rallying a 2 ton, 7 litre V8, 540 bhp tank!

nice tidy Capri V8

theres a wee bump there...

Not the most common use for a '73 RS

the odd nice car sitting round service park too.

youn can't read it in this pic, but his number plate says it all - "SKID MK"

This mighty roller skate!

Pasi Hagstrom - Subaru WRC test driver and VERY quick.

Alex Fiorio - 1989 world production rally champ, finished 2nd classic.

Jimmy McRae - Won last year, was sitting in 5th or 6th when he rolled out on sunday.

...and some more:

Deane Buist - Christchurch escort-builder who always drives hard - 4th classic.

Mark Parsons - usually does pretty well in the Targa NZ.

Mike Turfus rolling the zero car.

Old Porsches just look good in black-and-white photos.

Jeff Judd - 3rd classic.

Mark Laughton's very angry-sounding V8 Avenger.

Last pic was just playing round with another photo making it look a bit arty, what do you think?

Great pics Ben.

There is a really different character that comes through with the sun on that bit more shallow angle.
