weather for 21st

Too early to tell at the moment really. On a long enough timeline, EVERY day in auckland is forecast as "showers".... it''s only as the days get closewr they can forecast gaps in those showers :P
Although with the weather we've had this past few weeks, I'd not be surprised if the next day when it doesn't rain is some time in October.

Well, It's looking good. only complication is that I have a new clutch that needs bedding in before Sunday, which means lots of K,s in the Fraser before then. Poor me! Alas and lack-a-day.Oh, and I'll need a WOF station that doesn't get exorcised about full-harness belts. My certification plate doesn't arrive til' next week.
I popped down this morning to take a look. Wish I had entered now, the weather is great and they're getting loads of runs in. Nice variety of cars, loads of TVR griff's, Jags, and an assorted bunch of VX220's, Esprit in his Elise, Skylines a very quick stock MR2 (13.7) etc.
Esprit was into the high 13's when I left and was experimenting with adding and removing various bits of bodywork when I left

It was a great day!! I think the science of the perfect launch escapes me, but I'm very happy with what the wee Fraser will do over the quarter. George (Esprit) is master of the quick launch and, were it a 1/16 or 1/8, would be unbeatable, but those of us with better power/weight snuck by him.
Hehe was good to see you again Ian Especially with TR8 in tow.... you'll have to sign up for future events... it's a small cost to secure yourself a place... then if you don't end up coming down then you've only thrown away a quarter tanksworth of petrol money
And Dean, as for adding/removing bits of bodywork, I was just adding and removing my top secret carbon clamshells Just kidding, I was just doing some comparisons between roof-on, roof-off and rear window removal... found out that if you're roof off you're quicker just removing the rear window as well but the Elise is marginally quicker (all things being equal) with the roof on... it's good for about 2-3MPH at the top end which is pretty small, but enough to make a difference in a car as standard as mine where I've not got an abundance of horsepower :P
As for you Roger, I'm VERY impresed with your efforts today... that new gearbox/clutch certainly makes for a crisper drive I can see... I've always suspected your car would be quick with that power and weight... this is confirmed. Get some track-oriented tyres and a few more practice days at Pukekohe and I'm betting that sub-1:11 laps are at your disposal... you certainly seem to have the potential as a driver too, just need the practice and the confidence in your machinery to take it to the next level
FANTASTIC day... I await pics... silly me I didn't take any but there were plenty of cameras about so hopefully some will pop up.

Roger A said:Launch control? I believe you can buy systems that hold the engine at peak power so all you have to do is clutch and shift. Anything a human can do an IC can do better, faster, more reliably and cheaper.

Oh alright then.... Here's some pics from Sunday's Welly Constructors Car Club day at Manfield. I went up with Iain A in his newly certified 220hp Caterham. Beaut little machine which raised a few bushy eyebrows at trackside - his best lap time was 1:18.2 when chasing down the Radical, and I suspect there's better to come. Thanks Iain for a very enjoyable day and particularly for those laps behind the wheel! Very trusting...!
Thats a JRM and an SR1 Radical in the background of pic 2.
