Track & Hill Climb Events ??????????
Discussion
OK guys & girls, trying to find a list of tarmac hill climbs run in NZ that I can enter the Elise in.
The Elise is not caged and I know some events have moved in this direction, but there's still some that will allow me to run with out cage etc.
The MG club run a few and I'm getting info on them now, any others ??
Any help would be appriecated.
And trying to do the same for track days sprints that a non member can join in ? dam if they have enough I'll join a club if it is viable ?
Let me know, cheers Dean

Nah the wife pit crew and the daugthers navi-guessing :-)
MG Club runs a few so going to contact them & the Auckland car Club, see if they have any ?
Would go Sth for an event maybe two, but combine it with a big trip with other events.....
Keen to start putting this car to some serious us rather than being a garage filler.....

Bite the bullet and put a roll bar in and then you can do clubsport advanced events.
I haven't come across many clubs that run single sprints (basic) and even the hillclimbs are coming under pressure.
You've got 5 weeks to the Escort Car Club dual sprints

To much PC these days. A roll bar and harness I can understand but a full on roll cage borders on the ridiculous. What's next Han's devices compulsory... I'm all for safety but we're all adults at the end of the day and some of us want to be able to drive our cars on the street as well as compete and are prepared to accept a small compromise in return aka a disclaimer form – which don’t seem to be worth much these days thanks to the tireless efforts of the legal profession...
A roll bar is the mandatory minimum - full cage is 'recommended'. For my money, I'd go for a full cage comprising a fixed roll bar with a bolt-in/ removable front section - best of both worlds.
A lot of clubs are quite happy to have entries from other clubs, it helps fill the grids and makes for an interesting day with a diverse range of cars.

Jellison - 2.0 litre & shed loads of fun.....
All I want to do is a few hill climbs and sprints, don't want to race in a fleet of blokes, cars to expensive and I'd get carried away and stack the thing $$$
I'm all for safety too, but as Ian says, I'm a big boy and I know the dangers....I just want to stretch it's leg every now and then, have a bit fun and get that over done with on the controlled hill or track - I get to many tickets otherwise......

Dean - If you had a hard top for the elise, you would most likely be classified as a 'closed' car and so not need even a roll bar. Don't be put off by driving in close proximity to others.
My attitude is exactly the same - my 944T is a pretty rare and collectable car, and you'd be surprised at how many others are the same out there in the same boat- mutual respect, no egos, humble etc. Some of the closest and most rewarding dual sprints have been against an 18yr old in his dad's Coswoth Sierra - trading lap times at less than 0.1 sec .
Borrow someone from the clubs hardtop, give Paul De Blois a call and get youself into the Escort Sprints on the 18th June.
Come out anyway and bring your helmet and a pair of cotton overalls.......
