I got stuck for a short while behind a berm mowing tractor this morning as it was making it's way along the road (not mowing at the time). He was keeping well to the left and when the opportunity presented itself he pulled over to let the small queue go past.

While on the road he was doing 67 kph

Just how fast can these modern tractors go ?!¿!?

Not really

Although I could segue into the story about the only Lamborghini I've every driven . . . and that certianly couldn't do 67 kph

We have a very old loader at work that can go 45-50 km/h (slower uphill and much faster downhill) but it’s like trying to race a barge (Also turning sharply can result in moments of two wheels in the air madness). One of the main problems is just going in a straight line, the crude steering hydraulics are always trying to move you one way or the other so you experience much the same shear terror as flying a helicopter.

JCB Fastracs can do that, and have suspension to be able to deal with it

I can assure you Gravel, it looked nothing like any of those

Looks like an event that you'd need a number of hotdogs and vast quantities of beer to truly appreciate.

Do they have those at the Mystery Creek Field-Day ??

I almost bought an old Ford Tractor on TradeMe a while ago with a Chevvy V8 installed in it! It looked really well done and was completely functional. The guy selling it said you'd want to make sure you only used it in remote areas as the exhaust had no sound deadening at all!

My wife stopped me from stumping up the mere $3,000!

3 seperate supercharged V8's I think. but the first one looks like its got 4!

how on earth would you build a gearbox to take 4 separate input driveshafts?

Something clled a "crossbox" basically allows you to couple two engines together.

There's a picture somewhere I remember seeing of a tractor with four JET engines on it.... can't find it nwo though... go figure.
