CLNZ got an invite from Jaguar as well. Its on 21st May 9-4pm. Might be good for a laugh to see some old die hard bangers hurtling down the drag strip I think last time I attempted to go to this it pissed down and I flagged it. Damm weather

You're not allowed to, Dean.For some reason there's a "No sub-13s' rule.

I'd imagine if you had a word to them dean, they'd let you run. I hope it doesn't rain like last year. I'm hoping to break well into the 13s this time..... I've found a couple of things that'll give me more horsepower... hoping to test them out at Pukekohe next weekend.

Did you get a chemistry set for Christmas George ?

How does a 'lise clutch stand up to drag starts ?

Elise clutches are as tough as old nails actually. It's the MGF clutch which is designed for a much heavier car. Also given that the car is so light, you encounter wheelspin before you encounter transmission-breaking torque loadings so they tend to take rather a beating without protest.

Having said that, dragracing starts are never EASY on any car, but the Elise seems to take them in its stride.

As for the more horsepower thing, it's not chemical at all.... just made the discovery last night that the way my throttle's adjusted (and always has been) that I'm only getting just over 90% throttle opening at the throttle body. I'm going to have a fish around and see if I can adjust the linkage to get a full 0%-100% sweep. Won't make a HELL of a difference but should see me gain another 2-3bhp right at the top end of the rev range

Your right, have just read the invite - what a load of balls...........
If I run at an event and I go under 12.5 I have to wear arm restraints if I have no roof on then it's marginal depending on the guys running the show.

Things that gets me is in one of my runs I went up against a bike who was doing 11's and I didn't see his roof or arm restraints !!! ?

dragracing rules are pretty ed up really in NZ especially.

Soooo many picky picky rules for street cars when they start going "quick". Someone should tell them that circuit racing carries much more speed and risk of accident yet their safety regs are much more in line with the rest of the world.

I guess that it's because most of the old dinosaurs they're used to would be streetcars running on wrinkle-walled tyres and horrendously unstable suspension setups to get that quick
