Mobile Valeting in NZ?
Discussion
Morning,
I have family in NZ and my uncle was visiting the other month and he mentioned his son (my cousin) has gone into business as Mags and Turbo? I think its a tuning shop of sorts. Anyway we were chatting about Mothers polish and my uncle said that he hadnt heard of mobile valeting/detailing.!!!
I can't believe there is no one set up to offer a mobile valeting or detailing service down there?
Anyone shed any light on Mags and Turbo or the mobile dilema.
Cheers
Kev

Hi Kev
Mag 'n Turbo : I think calling them a tuning shop is a little generous. They specialize in selling wheels, chrome & other bling to the local chavs. From the advertising I'd say the majority of their money is made from the financing arrangements.
Don't get me wrong, from a purely business perspective, it looks to be a highly profitable example of knowing exactly what their customer segments want . . . It's just not my cup of tea
Mobile Valeting & Detailing : There are a couple. There's one that visits the workshop where my Westie lives on a regular basis. Seems quite good.

I heard, from a friend who has a friend who owns a M&T franchise, that someone came in with an unusual vehicle (names have been changed to protect the innocent) he wanted turbo-ed and the M&T boys spent the rest of the day on the net trying to figure out what to do. The franchise system seems to work well when dealing with low-tech (hamburgers, straight sales, etc).It looks as if franchise+ need for specialist training = problems?

Do mag and turbo even do turbos? I thought they just sold wheels/interior dress up parts and the only turbo part was blow off valves etc. I dont know of anyone who has had their car turboed by them and I dont know anyone stupid enough to try it either :P
