For sure... where to and when? let's have yer suggestions Wenderholm beach is nice, although it's not too far away from Auckland and it's not exactly a great drive to get there... lovely location for picnic and photoshoot type thingy though

Tairua?
Hot Water Beach?
Kai Iwi lakes?(bit of a trek but GLORIOUS roads and a wonderful spot)
something involving the splendid roads around paremoremo?
or (less ambitious) Omana/Maraetai or Orere pt including maybe Twilight road?
Raglan?

I would caution against anything north of Orewa using SH1 on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons for the next few weeks. Traffic will be a Should be OK by March other than long-weekends.

I wonder if we could get someone to show us the Hampton Downs site ?

I will be keen for another run. Since I got sooo much stick for not doing the last one!

Keen for somewhere within 1-2hrs drive from Auckland. Plently of nice spots around. How about smelling out a jazz band playing at a winery or something. Or parked up at a beach with a grassy reserve for a picnic sounds tops.

You've just described Wenderholm or Goat Island pretty well... goat island is usually pretty crowded though, and wenderholm's a bit too close/boring a drive, unless you take a very long way around.

Wenderholm sounds great! Perhaps one of the shore boys can take us on a tour de north
