There's apparently some kind of supply problem with the good-juice.

They're replacing it with 95 at a number of stations.

I know, sadly the motors have 95 in it at present. Wish they would hurry up!

Mobil 8000 is near the same stuff, don't let BP's marketing department con you, I bet its brewed at the same place by the same guy using the same stirring stick ? - but i could be wrong ?

Mobil 8000 is the same stuff.... BP just advertise more.... BP ultimate is still around, they're just having supply problems due to unscheduled maintenance at the refinery in oz and a greater-than-anticipated demand. They're just centralising their distribution of it for a while until their supply can meet demand.

Can you certified petrol heads-ie;people who know what happens under the bonnet- advise me on the worth or otherwise of the stuff they sell at supercheap that is supposed to give you more octane?

Most of it is rubbish, certainly at the price you pay.

There are very few cars that can effectively use more than a decent 98.

After that it's either import some 102 SuperGreen of start your own brew. A bit of Toluene or mDNT (meta-DiNitroToluene) does wonders.

As an alternative it's hard to beat some good water injection.

Yup, a good splash of tolly will do wonders, as will properly set up WI...just don't run out of water!

This is a good site: www.waterinjection.info/

My Skyline uses (and runs better on) 98, and my brother has just started using 98 in his RX-7.

I tried both 91 and 96 when I first got the Legacy, and if anything it actually ran better on 91 (tuned for it perhaps) so I stuck with that. might try chucking some 98 in it at some stage just to see if I notice any difference now though.

Students today . . .

In MY day students had to squeeze fuel from an oily rag with a wringer
