One of those new cars with side impact bars would probably fare better, perhaps even better than the SUV (though a reversal of roles would favour the cars occupants IMO).

It's ridiculous that designs must accommodate a drivers/passengers 'choice' to not wear a seatbelt.
That, and the need for pedestrian impact-deforming bonnets, is the reason that the DB9 shape will not be with us too much longer.
