Hey guys
I have just landed from Brisbane and will be in your beautiful country until January 9th.
I was wondering what events I should look out for on the automotive radar while I am here and any sights you would recommend for the car fan! Also where are you guys, if anyone wants to meet up and talk cars over a beverage or two, I will be in ChCh, Wellington, Dunedin, Auckland and various places in between over the next few weeks!
Cheers Guys
Ben

Yep it's south of Auckland near the Bombay Hills . . . a.k.a. the border zone for JAFA country.

If you don't know what a JAFA is just walk into any café south of the Bombay Hills and ask for :

"A half-caf, decaf, soy, caramel latté with mocha sprinkles."

Don't be silly man! All proper coffee ends in "...chino".
So that would be a:
half-caf, decaf, soy, caramel latté with mocha sprinkleschino
(and a low-carb biscotti on the side)
I think biscotti is Ponsonby for "Small evil biscuit - 1, Tooth - 0"

Ben - feel free to come along and watch if you are in the area. There will be a few PHers there and one or two interesting vehicles. I really don't know what else a visitor can do around Pukekohe though. I seem to remember an Agrodome-like sheep show nearby, but that's more for the Japanese market.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Is anyone heading down from Auckland and do you know how I could get down to the track from the city? I have no car so it'll be public transport!

Don't swear like that ! ! ! (on both counts)

At the moment I won't have a spare seat on the day, but if one comes free I'll re-post.

Where in Auckland are you going to be ?

Sorry mate it looks like the bus-trip from downtown goes via London/Berlin/LA/New York and takes 2 hours. Even then that's Pukekohe township not the track itself.

Stagecoach Timetable PDF

You might be able to find something better here.

MAXX

I'll see what I can do about pushing someone out into their own car to free up a seat. 2 hours is

Hey
Thanks for that, the bus timetables don't look very kind on this one! I will see what I can come up with as I may be able to get transport from a friend but otherwise it's a bit of a bugger!
Cheers

Hi Roger, spotted your post on a random fly-by...
Yes, it's a BAC Jaguar I found in a car park in Norfolk, so decided I'd take a photo of the Griff next to it Unfortunately when I hit your shores on Dec 25 the Griff will be tucked up in the UK.

How many Griffs are there in NZ? Must be a rare beast.

I've seen 2 griffs and 1 chim in sumner so far, and a few around banks too (tho may have been the same ones...)

Far more than I thought I'd see.
