I would have thought there would be more up-to-date news on their site than August '05.

As far as I know they've had significant financial backing and interest in the apartments/commercial space down there and I think they've had enough pre-sales to take it to the next stage. Last I heard they were mired in the second stage of the RMA process so expect to hear nothing for another 10 years or so

Wow, that looks awesome!

Last i heard a bigwig from the FIA had inspected the track, offered a few suggestions (like extending run off area in places, changing the corner angle or something in places etc) and apart from the suggestions, had given his approval (for being able to accomodate the A1GP type cars i think).

About time we had a new track in NZ, last made was Manfield or something in the 1970's. :|

With Taupo getting an upgrade it can only mean good things too. I really hope Cromwell Motorsport Park gets the go ahead although i'd rather have it closer to Dunedin as we really need a track here (prolly wouldn't be financially viable though).
