My fav event, well thats a lie now. When they had the other nissans and various GT cars was when I enjoyed it the most, but still be intersting if Murph pulls another out of the bag :) Will have to stock up on the wines and snacks for sure.

I will be watching. I LOVE that track, was this far from going to the 24 hour race last year (good thing I didn't cause it didn't happen!). Its a great combo of tight hill section and that fast straight. Formula one there would be crazy (although obviously woudln't happen).

I’ll watch intermittently (Mainly the parts where there are horrible accidents, they are the best bits).

I'll be watching.... that is if our power is back on and our roof hasn't blown off.... my mate's having a beer, bbq and bathurst day so might go round there.

I preferred it in the old days, but still watch it, it's kinda like a tradition.

Ya, something similar myself. Wasn't too long here this time last year, so I wasn't really into the whole Bathurst "thing". I actually know the track now, plus I can recognise more than one driver/car so I'm really looking forward to it.

Probably an Urban-Myth but I'm told that, apart from the racing itself, CenterBet is offering odds on another Roo getting minced.

Yeah I would beleive that. Where we are heading there will be bets laid out for Ford V's Holden People wearing favourite Ford/Holden outfits

I would just just like to see a kiwi boy bring home the bacon not to mention some smash-ups to entertain us all.

It'll be entertaining to say the least One thing about the Ausie V8s.... they might not be the most varied formula, but for sheer lairyness and evenness of competition, there's not many touring car formulae in the world that rival it.

So whos fault was it...Murphy or Ambrose? It looks like Ambrose was holding his line around that narrow stretch, but Murphy was over a door length to his side to claim the gap which I think should have been his? Just unfortunate, I got out of my seat thinking there may be some biff betweem them...fiesty fellas !!

If someone from LTNZ was watching the aftermath of that incident maybe they'd realise that it's not necessarily the speed but occasionally the following distances.

I think that in this case it was Murphy’s fault, Ambrose had his nose well up the inside by the time Murphy had realized it and tried to exchange paintwork. Good show to the Holden team though and Scafe for not getting involved in any petty race ending skirmishes.

No no no, you'll note that they were speeding at the time so everything else is irrelevant!

Only saw bits and pieces of the race myself, first time in years not watching the whole thing. Wish I had watched it, spent the day sanding and painting instead.

Not sure about the balaclava (sp?) thing.
Maybe an after race penelty would been better, ie deduct points/cash.
Ambrose was pretty angry all day.

Good effort from Tasman, they showing up Team Kiwi already!

Being from Auckland I'm not sure what pastry, honey and nuts have to do with it . . .

Well that's what my 6 year-old niece calls it

Both of them! for being too stubborn to give the other some room and risk losing the place. Murph could have backed out a bit, Ambrose could have given him a bit mroe space. From the sound of it the 'racing room' rule is a bit vague, but given that Ambrose was on the racing line and Murph was obviously well back (going by where he tagged the back corner of the car),and that there isnt really room to fit 2 cars side by side around that corner, I'd say it was more Murph's fault.

That balaclava thing is a bit of a joke though, if they're going to pull up one team for it they should check the entire field, as Ambrose said, he hadnt worn one in 2 years and neither have half the drivers in the field.

big respect to Lowndes/Muller for completing the race without a windscreen though - having a wheel land on the windscreen, how unlikely is that!

Well I watched the entire race except for the last hour when I missed all the excitement.

My friends 190E packed up so I towed him home. Theyre rather heavy, could really feel my car go sideways when the rope jerked tight.

Turned out the fuel pump is stuffed, $900 later

How hard is it to re-build a fuel pump yourself? I know how they work and the very fine tolerances that are involved but surly its possible to buy parts and replace them instead of a new pump.

Chances are if they're genuine M-B parts (rather than Bosch or something) the parts will cost $900 ! !

Would be a bit of fun though if you weren't in a hurry or thinking about the cost.

I hate towing people who don't know how to be towed.

Why they roll forward rather than maintaining the gap is completely beyond me.

Then after the 19th bad jerk and you stop to offer polite, simple advice on how to maintain a gap they go mental at you

Clearly it was your fault they broke down !
They know how to be a tow-ee but you don't know how to be a tow-er !
Wanting to keep the towbar on the back of you car is downright unreasonable !
AND the fact that you interupted you plans to go out and save them in foul weather counts for zero !
