Cerbie on Trademe

Anyone seen this?

Looks like someone might be able to pick themselves up a bargain.... ok so it's not road-legal but hey, I can think of worse cars to have in the garage to admire and to take out to the racetrack on the weekends.... just a shame it's not a 4.5LW.... fingers crossed they'll change the law in a few years so we can see more of these beasties on the road.

I was dribbling all night after seeing that.
Wonder how long one could drive round without plates before the local plod got real nasty!!
Is there such a thing as to much fun? - There must be some way round the rules.
A bloke's been driving around in a Tuscan on and off for a year with plates that come off his mini on it... it's a risk I suppose, but what are the consequences if you're caught... it's only a fine, not like they confiscate and crush your car or anything.
For what it's worth, it's only a 4.2, it's got a rather naff-looking all-black interior (come on, it's a Cerbie, it shouldn't be black inside) and it seems to be average (ish) condition... hardly the steal of the century... mind you, if it was road legal, at this price it'd be a steal
'Naff' black interior? What's wrong with a black leather interior (and it does state FULL leather)? It's one of the best colours to have in any TVR. It's practical, offers a lovely contrast to a bright exterior finish and is my favourite!
My Cerbera was 'only' a 4.2 and would wipe the floor with just about anything. Don't get carried away with the 4.5 vs 4.2 - they produce almost identical power and performance.
You can't really tell the condition of the car from photos - you need to see it in the flesh, and drive it.
$20k for ANY Cerbera, road-going or not is a complete bargain. That is a genuine 180mph, 360bhp (yes real horsepower, not 5.0litre Rover HP!) for the price of a Toyota Corolla!
If I didn't have to get rid of the Chimaera I'd buy it (for obvious reasons). Hell, I'm considering it anyway as a track-day car that I may be able to get on the road with a few mods!
Esprit, I'm surprised at you posting such nonsense that I don't agree with!

HEhe jamie, you know it's only a wind-up... if I had the readies I'd snap it up in an instant
For me, I just don't like TVR interiors in black.... especially cerbies..... they're such a WONDERFUL interior that I feel that black just hides too much of the detail... it's like I don't like TVRs in black.... the only cars that I think look good in black are cars like Astons that rely on proportions for looking good rather than details.... just my opinion... and remember I'm colourblind too

It's a very bad time to be thinking about it - I've got a two-storey 254sqm barn to build! (Accomodation in the half-mezzanine with a 3.5m bi-fold window to admire the machinary parked below - homestay anyone?).
If it was cheap enough and I was convinced I could get it on the road, I'd be very tempted. The motorsport option would be the only currently legal option and I wouldn't be against it. After all if I had a Cerbera I'd WANT to enter it in a few hill climbs or sprints each year.

Sounds like you've convinced ourself then Jamie... it IS very cheap and if you had it you could always find SOME way of getting it on the road surely... just put the plates off the Chim on it... how many coppers would know the difference between a chim and a cerb..... they might have a problem believing that the Cerb is "silver" though
I haven't found anywhere where it states it has to be a competition vehicle before it enters the country, just a competition vehicle before it's considered for road use under the motorsport category. Where did you get that info - can you point me in the right direction? There's so much conflicting information between these authorities it's almost impossible to know for certain where you stand before you start a project!
Anyway, since my last post I've changed my mind. If I was going to buy this Cerbera I would look at changing it sufficiently to get it on the road as a low-volume vehicle. It would mean a lot of work but I think it's doable. This may not be the car to start the process but I won't know that until I check it out.
