was out for a bit of a blat this avo, just for a few minutes cos i got sick of my assignments, and on the way back got forced off the road by a bloody fulton hogan truck!:shoot: fairly narrow bit of road, there would have been room to pass if he'd had the decency to pull over to his side of the road, but he didnt, forced me to drop 2 wheels off the side of the road to get round, and BANG! damn big rock hiding in the grass. punched a big hole through the sidewall of RF tyre, and left a big nasty dent into the rim as well.

am not happy, might write a letter to FH asking them to pay cost of new wheel, but had been thinking about upgrading from standard steel wheels to some mags soon anyway, so might be a good ooportunity I guess.

so if you know anyone who wants to get rid of some subie wheels......??

On the upside at least you weren't hurt.

Get off to the shop tomorrow and report it as a non-injury accident including the notes you have written for yourself TODAY covering:
- Where
- When
- As many details of the truck as you can
- A sketch of the incident/accident
- Any photos of the location or damage that you may have taken
- The failure of the truck to stop and render assistance or confirm damage/injuries

That then provides a documentary record should you choose to write to Fulton Hogan. (Which I would do as soon as I got a copy of the Police Report)

BTW their website www.fultonhogan.co.nz provides the names of their board members as well as the managers.

sounds good, as long as tires are right size to keep same overall radius, factory wheels on mine are only a puny 185/65R14, if you could let me know what size are on it I'll see if they'll work. what condition are wheel and tires in?

cheers

the driver of the truck may not have realised there was any damage as I pulled the car back onto the road as soon as I was past him, and didnt realise the damage and stop myself until I felt the car pulling to the left once I was back on the road and then went round the next corner to find a safe place to stop.

cheers for useful advice

I'd be concerned that the impact had caused damage to the suspension or mounting points. At the very least you can bet the geometry will be out of whack.

I'd get on to the truck company asap and see what they come back with - probably nothing but it's worth a try.

Good luck.

Rims are pretty much perfect condition. Tyres are snow tyres, he estimates maybe 1.5 more warrants left on them.

Size is 205/50/16

Dont have any decent photos of them but im sure you can guess which ones they are in this photo

Open to offers. Know another guy who is keen too, otherwise theyll go on trademe

well had a happy ending to this one folks...

Fulton Bogan admitted it was their fault and they didnt want negative publicity, so gave my car:

<+>1 new wheel
<+>2 new tires (I had to pay for one as I didnt want to just put one new front tire on it, but got their 33% discount on it) they payed for all labour, fitting/balancing etc
<+>wheel alignment

so i'm fairly happy with the outcome (tires were getting pretty worn anyway haha)

Nice work!
Glad to see they actually came to the party, I would have thought most big companies would have told you were to go.

There's a difference with big companies that work for Councils. They REALLY don't like bad press as it tends to effect their non-financial attributes during contract tendering

you had better luck than I did dealing with them when my TR7 disappeared into a pothole that was there due to their shonky workmanship
