So how did the trip north go, you Lotus types? Fraser run south included 2 hours of lurking by the side of the road between Kawakawa bay and Kaiaua after one of our number had an altercation with a (clay) bank. nice roads out that way but lots of scraping of undersides.

Well I won't be taking the Westi out that way
Any bump that a Fraser bottoms-out on would leave me dangling in mid-air

Nice day for it.

Kawakawa bay ...nice spot!! Hope the driver was ok and the car an easy repair.

The trip up to Snells Beach was a great day out. Made us realise what slack buggers we have been not exploring that region for some time, its such a great spot round there.. The Salty Dog is a nice old English style pub which was a toned down version of the Cock & Bull, serving Guiness flavoured Beef Hot pots and similar style foods which made a nice change. The weather also held out too. There were four Lotis, Alfa, Jag and some other cars I didn't see parked up. We are going to pencil in another date for this time next yr as well with a bit more notice to everyone.

Sounds like a good time was had by most... gutted I couldn't have joined you... I spent the weekend piloting my fully-laden stationwagon around some WONDERFUL coromandel roads (went to Hahei with some friends) and there wasn't a SECOND when I wasn't muttering under my breath "I wish I had the Lotus out here" Might be a nice idea for a long-range roadtrip some day?

You're right Kylie it's a great region.

Just avoid "Holiday" Sundays from Labour Day to Easter . . . It will be 1st gear from Wellsford/Warkworth back to Orewa.

Saturdays are fine

Still waiting - got a call Thursday asking how to start the car!

Try putting some petrol in the drained tank and connecting the battery!

Maybe next week :-)

Just a carbonfibre cold air induction kit to go with the new larger throttle body I got (typical Elise problem, the OE plastic throttle body can distort when worn and stick on partially open throttle). Hopefully springing for a Larini Exhaust for christmas... lighter weight and a better sound are my main goals The Elise is a great car but sounds a bit too much like a hoover for my liking.
