Went to the open day at Pukie, had a good time, bit more exciting being alowed to pass and mix it up with other cars, although a little scary at times - most were well behaved.

Clock'd my best time with the help of YiMings new transponder - 1:08.81 so slow getting it down....

The tyres are not liking it too much, starting to reach the limits of the Toyo T1-R's on track, they started to get a bit loose after 10 laps......

Good days fun for $ 90

Nice one thats an amazing pace!! Where do you buy those transponders from? Are they wireless and easy to fit and take out when not needed? Would be a great accessory to have.
So could you manage to get your time down even more with other stickys and a composite roof?

XTR - Transponder for lap times - it was Yiming's, his car lost an alternator belt so he gave it to me for lap timing.

Kylie - yep tyres next, the Toyo's are great for the first 5 laps then start to over heat and bead up.
Roof would help too, car felt weird with the soft top on, i think it creates to much lift - car goes light at about 220 kph......I think with tyres and a better drive the car is capable of a 1:05 maybe even a 1:04 ? I'll ask Murph the next time I see him ;-)

Still heap of fun - D

So how does it fit into your car?

Just some doble side tape, but it has mounts if required, battery powered. has a pickup antenna which is position across the car and the sender unit is placed near the edge of the track, very simple.

You can put several units around the track for split times etc. very cool.

Sorry I'd read "Clock'd" as achieved rather than measured and wasn't sure how this device made you go faster

Must have been those mushrooms I had for dinner

Stunning times Dean... blooooooody fast for a car on what amounts to stock road tyres! Like you said, the rubber is the next step to improving your times! The transponder is a good idea, although I need to invest in more practice before I start getting that technical.

That Gallardo was back out there again eh? he getting his times down now? Thaat car is BALLISTIC.

Yiming and Rhys out there keeping you company I see? I'd better get out there and get practicing again or else I'm going to lag behind! Was Rhys able to improve his times much? I wasn't much slower than him on sprints day but his car is capable of so much more than mine with the extra 30bhp or so being very telling around Pukekohe.

Also nice to see the drifters out there obviously mucking the track up something awful again

SO gutted I couldn't come out and join you guys... already promised I'd take the girlfriend away for the weekend and given that she allows me to have my fun, it's only fair I cut her some slack every now and then.... when's your next track excursion? I might take a sneaky friday off sometime later in the month and head out to have a play and get a few laps in.... less inclined on getting my times down but want to improve my consistency so that I can start benchmarking myself..... I want to prove that a bog standard Elise CAN break into the 1:14s bracket around that track eventually

XTR - must come over for dinner sometime...fond of mushrooms ;-)

The rubber depends on rims really, would like to get a set of track rims so I have road & track wear but funds are limited - looking for that good deal....

First chioce would be the Yoko A048s tyres which are the perfect fit road/track day tyre for the Elise or if Toyo bring in a suitable front then the R888's are supposed to be good bang for buck.

Some more driver training would hurt either !!
Need a coruse to go to that next level, get rid of some of my bad habits !
