Anyone know a good place to get some raceboots with thin-ish soles . . . that don't look like clown shoes !!!

Took the Westi out a few weeks back with the wrong shoes (stiff soles) and it was almost impossible to get off the mark without "a sustained loss of traction". Which is fun the first few times but wears thin fairly quick :paperbag:

I just bought a track day set of gear from here...
www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/

They'll do export orders as well, though I'm sure there's someone in Auckland who distributes them, just ask Kylie.

I ended up with a helmet, gloves, suit and especially shoes - after my (far-too-wide) running shoes clipped the throttle while I was going for the brake... fishtail action galore!!!

I have only got some stuff off these guys and the quality seems pretty good. The shop is in Penrose which is pretty well stocked full of stuff.

I have only been once but found the penrose shop somewhat sparsely stocked. I bought my blue suede shoes from Kendalls in Glenfield (i think it's glenfield-off Wairau anyway)Of course if you don't need fireproof you can buy driving shoes from any sports shoe shop as they appear to be very hip at present-but you'll pay about twice what it costs for the real thing!

Cheers Kylie

I'll try the store rather than relying on guessing my size for mail-order.

Yep I went there prolly two yrs ago which was stocked as per website. But things could be different now as mentioned. Worth a look anyway.

You could try www.rallynuts.com
They are an international online company so they could easily send to New Zealand.
I also found that they were cheaper than Grand Prix Racewear and Demon Tweeks.

Cheers Michal

I might give them a try if I can't find something decent locally.

Thanks very much for the offer Paul.

I'm not entirely sure exactly what I want yet but based on all the suggestions I'll shop around in person first.

Usual problem of Kiwi male feet - Flat, wide . . . and more often than not, at least one in my mouth.
