Looks like we're going to get the best weekend weather we've had for a while.
Happy and safe driving everyone
If you see a blue and silver car stranded half-way over a speed-bump . . .. . . stop and give me a push please
Hehe yeah hoping for LOTS of sun and top-down motoring Hehehe your car is so low XTR, I'll probably think you're part of the speedbump and go straight over the top.... and given that I'm an Elise driver, that's saying a LOT!
How is the hoonage in NZ?
I managed a speeding ticket (62 in a 50) in only 3 weeks but that was in (obvously) a built up area, didnt see much in the way of enforcement in the wilder areas.
Heaidng to ChCh in October
BTW if I wanted to import and build a caterfiled ish car whats the rules/laws? (I know theres a NZ based 7 builder but thats only 1 option and no idea what there like).

Hoonage is good... especially around Christchurch *mmmmmm Port-hills!* Had many an hour of fun in the TR7 in my student days trialling around those roads at 3am!
Traffic enforcement over here is Nazi though.... there's possibly not as MUCH of it as in the UK, but it's definitely less-leniant.... generally, you have a 10km/h buffer as far as the speed limit goes, and you get ticketed at ANYTHING 11km/h over the limit or above... there's no leniency or discretion as there is in the UK and that's what catches most UK imports out... ask Venom... he's felt the NZ revenue gathering agency (police) and their sting.... it's a useless system, but if you're sensible and take CALCULATED risks, then it should be ok... I've got one fine (scamera) in 10 years of driving and that was an oversight rather than hooning (damn autos and their lack of engine braking downhill!)
As for sevens, the company that builds them is Fraser Cars NZ (google it).... Roger_A on these forums has one so he'll be able to answer any queries... I know he's well happy with it
You could import one I'd imagine (check with LTSA first in case there's any nasties) but as I understand, the frasers are good cars. There's also another NZ-built kit-car that's worth a look and that's the old Beattie Clubman (now called Redline Sprints I believe)... they're a closed-wheel design, almost akin to a mini D-Type Jaguar... and I've seen a couple of these do VERY VERY well at race events.... so yeah... it's all good
Hi
It might come down to simple arithmetic for you. There are 2 NZ-built 7s on autopoint at present(a Leitch and an unfortunate- coloured Fraser -both have good reputations for build quality. Leitch no longer build 7s though) and, especially given that it's midwinter or thereabouts now, they will probably go for significantly less than what it would cost you to import a similar quality/spec brit-built 7. Limitations to this vague advice are that we don't yet have the superlight bike-engined beasties here that you have several versions of there.
Looking at the classifieds in UK Kitcar mag (slobber, drool) it seems that you have a vast range of impressive and often beautiful kitcars to choose from (as well as some that(IMHO) make an Austin Allegro look like a work of art-eg Onyx,MDV) that would have desirability here over and above a 7 that is not so unusual here( see above qualifications to that.Blimey, didn't intend to write a thesis. All this may be prolix bollox. Have fun

OOPs, not Autopoint, Trademe.
-Of course you could design and build a TVR Cerbera replica that is identical in every way except called something else and thereby put a grin on many a PHNZers face-somewhat similar to that on the face of Tana Umaga last night. 91-0 I wonder what's going through Uncle Clive's mind now...(this should elicit some interesting responses from the Poms)

Probably the same thing that's always going through his mind - how to put together a team and tactics to win a match/series/World Champioship.
The run-out against a frankly pathetic Fiji is exactly what the Kiwis DIDN'T need as it told us nothing about any of the players other than that given no opposition they can score tries quickly. I'm sure Mr Henry would rather of had a stiffer test for his players.
I think after Tuesdays game we might have a better idea what sort of team the Lions will be fielding at in the tests but like most people, I have no idea whether the team will be competetive or not.

I'd love to see the likes of Sacky and Erinle on this tour!
A large proportion of these Afro-Caribbean players are from families that have been resident in the UK before NZ was even discovered! ;-)
I wish we could lure more of these big, fast, black guys into rugby and away from football and athletics!
I think the Sivivatu situation makes the Kiwis look a bit vulnerable as he was deliberately fast-tracked into the ABs - they even tried to get him in ahead of his minimum qualifying period. He's a class player and I don't think the Lions have a winger that could defend against him (Sacky or Erinle could though).
Personally I'd like to see the rules tightened up so that you can only play for a nation's team if you are born there - it would stop all the poaching and the complaints etc.

Well that's Goodbye to George Gregan fom the Wallabies,Andrew Mehrtens (I know he's not in there anyway)gone -Oh and you poms won't be able to use the Paul Bros anymore in 7s. And the Scotland team will have to stop using it's Kiwis. And of course if you are born in Wales but live in England and grew up there-tough!In short-It wont work.
I agree really.... although England has had its' fair share of imports..... Mike Catt was a South African and Dan Luger was eastern European by birth I think... I'm sure there are a few others though.... The way it stands, the ABs will always be half made up of the best from the Islands. I think the saddest aspect of this means that Fiji, Tonga and Manu Samoa will never be more than "also-rans" on the world stage.
I think that the test team will fare a little better... with Robinson's pace on the wing and Jonny's playmaking and robust defense/tackling skills, I think it'll be a LOT more mobile backline... and I'm expecting the Test Loosies to be a lot sharper than the ones fielded on the weekend too.... we will see though

I've always fancied something that revs to 15k and has a sequential gearbox, so I'd have a motorbike engined machine. I'm surprised that there isn't an option on Frasers to fit the popular superbike engines yet.
Anyway, I've been following the progress of this little number and I think it would be a nice alternative - a mini-Ultima, if you will.....
www.lynxae.co.uk - it's the LR1 obviously.
