Hi everyone

Here's my first post, so hello all and as usual, the newbie needs some advice!

I've been looking for an A4 for a while now...

I live in Auckland, so have never done anything about it. I like the idea of a NZ new car and this one looks like a goodie. Is the price reasonable?

Thanks Bill

Hi Bill
We've been looking at A6s and this seems a little steep for an A4, as the ono would lead me to believe the seller realises.

I'd agree... seems a few thousand quid overpriced.... see if you can't beat him down... there SHOULD be a fair few NZ new A4s out there... shop around, see what deals you can cut

Welcome to PH, I agree with Roger that it looks quite overpriced.

The kms travelled suggest that major work is forthcoming that the current owner doesn't want to do- ie cambelt service which I imagine on a Euro is a bastard in terms of price. It does look to be in good nick though.

I'd have a look at some similar models on Audi dealership yards as you should be able to pick this one up for at least $5k cheaper than a dealer will sell it to you for. Ask the dealer what sort of trade they'd do on that car as an example as well, you can take that to the owner and try and use that to beat them down some more.

Thanks everyone!

I really didn't expect such a quick response. Was quite stunned to find all your replies!

I thought the asking was a little high. Thanks for the tip on the cambelt. In my previous convos with dealers I'd identified that was the case. It'll need to be changed at the 120k service or sooner really.

There doesn't seem to be that many of these particular models around, the turbo engine with quattro. Most of the cars at dealers are imports and those NZ new are well over-priced even this one!

The magic question is how much should I be looking at for one of these?

Cheers
Bill

Hi bill,
i looked at an a6 today at Cooper Cars and they have a 2.8 tiptronic quattro A4 there that apparently goes like stink- for a good deal less than what this private seller is asking:
www.coopercars.co.nz.

Thanks Roger

I'm looking for a NZ new version. Not sure why really, just figure it's safer somehow. Would prefer the 1.8 too, bit easier on the gas.

Mind you any quattro would be good, they have awesome grip in any weather.

Thx again
Bill

Roger's good like that.... despite driving a rollerskate, he seems to know his stuff

So yeah, welcome in bill... we may only be a fledgeling community NZ-wide, but us PHers are a friendly bunch and hopefully we can grow this forum a bit
