Well I'm sure you all know my ongoing saga and grande plans for the TR7 but to be honest it's all been getting a bit much for me lately.... the drudgery of driving a stationwagon to work every day and the realisation that the TR7 is still 3 years plus and a LOT of money away.... and in a moment of weakness I caved.......

I thought aaah F*&K IT! ..... and bought this:

Ok, so now I'm broke... but am I happy? YES!

Guess I'll be seeing you at the next track day after all Kylie

Excellent choice! Hope the new motor goes very well for you. TR7 project cancelled or just set back a few more years?

Nice one. I've seen that car for sale for a while and I seem to remember it was a very reasonable price.

All you need to do now is remove the weedy little K-series and slot in that 5.0litre V8 you've got sat lying around! ;-)

CONGRATULATIONS ! ! !

That's summer sorted . . . what will you drive in winter ?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

May your weekends be filled with brisk trips to nowhere in particular on interesting and empty roads

Wow... the forums are behaving again finally!

Umm ok Details... it's one of only 2 Silver S1s in NZ (I think) so yeah it'd be a 50/50 chance it's me... the other one is a VERY rapid Sport-135 so it' looks different. It's a '98, Bog standard apart from the Magnesium wheels (Lotus Option) and the stereo. It's the tightest Elise I've ever ridden in... no rattles or anything. Paint is IMMACULATE, it's NZ new, only 24,000 original KMs (barely run in) FSH, reasonable price... the timing was just right! The car has been a Lotus Club car all its life and you'll have seen it at a few trackdays. The previous owner sold it because he'd just imported a '98 Esprit V8 GT from the UK and he had one too many toys... bonus is that I added as a condition of sale the blagging of a few rides in the Esprit on Trackdays and the like

Hehe yeah I'll admit that the thought of somehow shoehorning my spare TVR engine into the back of the 'lizzy Hehe nah seriously it's just going to remain standard and well looked after and be my weekend dry-weather fun-car.... the perfect companion to my boring stationwagon.

The TR7 project is just going to go into a shed under a blanket for a bit I think... would consider selling for the right price but in the current market that's not likely.

I'm probably going to sign up with the Lotus Club in the next month or so... who is the best person to contact Kylie? I hear you guys have another one of those driver-training days coming up in the not too-distant future... sounds like the perfect first track outing to me!

Oh and the cherry on the cake? The Jaguar is due to hit the roads legally in a few weeks.... it's going to be a long, tempting winter, but I'm hoping the odd sunny day will pass to allow me to blow the cobwebs out

I've yet to drive her in the dry and it's the first Elise I've actually driven... but I can say without a doubt that it in terms of response and road-communication, it's the sharpest car I've ever driven... full stop.

I am indeed on cloud nine

That is quite possibly the anthem I'll be living my life by... in my Chch days in the TR7, that WAS my social life.... study/work for 6 days a week dan til dusk then come sunday afternoon it'd be off to some random destination for Nachos (I'm looking at you Izza). That's been sorely missing in my life the last two years.... and it's about to return

Thanks Kylie,

I have a feeling that I might have to wait for my next paycheque to join the club as for some weird reason I seem to have no money at the moment..... I wonder why

I stumbled across the site and will be surely joining as soon as it's possible. The driver training day will be my first track day I think... give me a chance to get comfortable with the car in a more settled environment before letting myself go crazy. It's run in conjunction with the Jaguar club right? I have a feeling that I might also be able to convince my father to bring his E-Type up because after the last one I told him I thought that it'd be the ideal situation to test the car on-track in a controlled manner.

Keep me posted on the trackday dates No doubt I'll be seeing a lot more of you

Cool no rush! As you know its a great scene. Last couple of training days were run with Jaguar and BMW. Will check whos coming this yr. We seem to be attracting Lambos and Ferraris of late too. So will be a great mix of exotica.

Heh yeah I know there's no hurry

The guy I bought the car off is James Smith, just in case you know who I'm talking about. He's also got a Titanium '98 V8-GT Esprit with an SE wing (2-post boomerang)
