I'll guess its a 240Z. Quite an early Z car at any rate, those headlamps are kinda odd too but the silver roundel behind the side window gives it away.

I've got some shots too

This was the first time I attended (well its only my second year here, and I didn't know about it last year!), and was impressed with the attendance. Watching was a bit awkward until I moved away from the main areas (way too flat down on the oval to see anything, no less photograph cars). But up cemetery street were some nice overhead views.

The 240Z was pretty much correct Im just nitpicking

Its a Nissan 240ZG (Note its a Nissan not a Datsun)
They were only made in Japan and never sold anywhere else (hence the Nissan name as Datsun was discontinued really early over there). The different nose apparently gives it a 3mph higher top speed and the flares alow them to run wider wheels. That car is totally stock other than the 260Z wheels which would have been steel. Its quite possibly the only one in NZ and apparently worth around 100 grand

The short-backs like this look much better than the long-backs.

The problem with things being "worth around 100 grand" is that it's only true if someone is prepared to pay that much. Is there a collectors market for this model back in Japan ?

Yeah I think most people are agreed the 2+2 isnt as nice.

AFAIK there would be a market for it. Even if there isnt much of one I know what he paid for it and you couldnt get a really nice regular 240Z for it, so hes gona come out pretty well

Severely doubt $100k... saw one go on one of those jap auction sites a while back for about $18kNZ (yeah was the Nissan, not the standard Datsun 240Z).... and in NZ where even a concours 3.8 "flatfloor" E-Type won't make $70k I severely doubt it'd even break 30k.... kinda like a RHD TR8 .... none were ever produced officially but about a dozen escaped the factory as standard.... their rarity makes them worth a packet, but even when they do come up for sale they barely ever break $45kNZ... there ain't many TR afficionados out there that KNOW their value let alone have the cash to part with.

Thing is with the Japs.... there's plenty of obscure Jap-only models that pop up from time to time that nearly everyone forgot... they're seldom worth much more than the standard model they're invariably based on.
