Hey everyone, i'm new here thought i'd say hi, me is Ben, from Timaru originally but at uni in Dunedin since start of last year.

I drive a 1990 Legacy wagon (student budget doesnt quite stretch to a Porsche), what are the rest of the Kiwis on here using for wheels?

Hi there, I am originally from Timaru as well, great spot. Spent many a weekend down at Dunnos joining the student beer fests on the weekends, but specialised work had drawn me to the big smoke. My vehicles are in my profile. Lots of awesome classic cars owned by people here and supercars too. Good luck with your studies.

Hi Ben

Legacy wagon is a good choice. Fits the surfboard for the 2 weeks of Summer and 4WD for the 50 weeks of Winter

... Now watch all the Mainlanders at a Jaffa

hey cheers for replies, nice to not be ignored

sweet cars, good to see a few subies, looks like the way to go is a sub for something practical and something else for a play-car. Looking forward to finishing study so i can think about affording something fun. (maybe after I pay off the student loan :S )

Hi Ben,

Studied in Chch myself so not far away.... many friends from Timaru including Izza off these boards.

Like Kylie, the big smoke drew me in and now I'm stuck here.

I'm a recent (ish) graduate and still drive my Mitsi Mirage Wagon all the time... it was my student transport and still is my mainstay as I've spent all my time since uni paying back my student loan.

I've got a Triumph TR7 Roadster in the rebuild now though with my spare cash that's receiving a shot or two of testosterone in the form of a TVR V8 powerplant and a host of other goodies

Gidday Ben,
I'm also an ex-Timaruvian.
Scary!
Went to TBHS, then Canterbury uni, now working in Christchurch.
If you nick is anything to go by, I hope your Subie sees more of Rolling Ridges or Backline Rd more than Stafford St on a sat night.

WOW crazy, what is it with Timaru and petrol?

You'd be right about that Izza, cliffs road/sutherlands road/etc are also rather fun.

oh and taieri beach road, 30 min south of Dunners is about the best road I've ever driven.

When were you at TBHS? I was 7th form 2002 so may have been there at the same time.

Hi Im Paul. I was from Dunedin until november last year then finished uni and moved to Christchurch for a real job.

I really should be paying my student loan off but keep seeing cars that tempt me so that may or may not happen

Not sure where taieri beach road is but Highcliff road going up the hill along the bay is my favourite, then down on the road that leads from Larnachs Castle to MacAndrew Bay (Have a feeling its castle road but dont quote me on it)

Really should get around to meeting Izza too, I distincly remember him agreeing to buy me a beer

yeah gotta agree with that one, highcliff rd is great. taieri beach road starts at waihola (just south of airport turnoff) and heads towards the coast, comes out at taieri mouth. nice twisty gravel, the middle part of it takes the top rally cars about 10 min during the otago rally. havent timed myself yet as when I do I'll probly do something stupid and crash. lol
