Track Days & Fire Extinguishers
Discussion
Hi there here are the rules for the Lotus sprints at Puke: -
A fire extinguisher meeting the minimum standards must be mounted in the car within reach of the occupant while normally seated using two 6mm bolts with panel washers. The mounting bracket must have a metal or similar strength material and can be one of the following types (minimum):
AFFF (Foam) – 1.0 litres at 7.0-16.0 bar
BCF (Powder) – 0.9kg at 7.0 bar
ABC/ABE (Powder) – 0.9kg at 13.5 bar
I beleive you can get these from the Warehouse for around $80-90.00? I got the partner to fabricate a stainless steel bracket to fit underneath the front of the driving seat. Its attached to the front two seat bolts that go through the floor. The extinguisher is securely fixed and not going anywhre fast.
I have also seen them mounted in the passenger side in smaller cars as its an easier reach.
Hope this helps.
Edited to add the yellow pages on the net is full of suppliers if you search on fire extinguishers, to get the best price. Repco, race shops that kind of thing.

Thanks for the advice. Time to go shopping.
Of course the rules will have changed as soon as I buy something, but you have to start somewhere
And I'll end up with a super-lucky-backup for the garage.
