USA connections

Anyone got any reliable friends or family in the USA? Anybody shipping anything over from the US who may have room for a ride-on lawnmower (lawn tractor)?

I've been looking at local prices and they do tend to take the p*ss a bit. For example, an MTD/Yard-man that retails in the US for US$1299.00 (roughly $1,900NZD) is on 'special' here for $5,000NZD! Even taking into account GST and shipping that's a substantial mark-up. I don't begrudge people making a profit but being ripped-off is another matter!

Bugger, I forgot about that! I guess I'll also have to have the speedo converted to km/h and that wallowy suspension will need upgrading or I'll be sick before the end of the first paddock!

I asked the partner for you Jaimie, but hes not importing another container load of stuff for a while yet.

Your definately on the case though as my friends just did the same thing for a ride-on mower with all the bells and whistles. She has her brother living over there and somehow got one sent out. Worth looking into further.

Jamie.... you're not thinking hard enough... you should build a pontoon for it and some sort of propultion device that takes power from the wheels to operate and you could just DRIVE it across the pacific!

Dang that is a markup. Although its pretty typical seems to me. Coming from the US, everything seems pretty pricey here. Sorry, couldn't help with your issue though. But if anyone is sending a container to the US, let me know!
