Anyone know any good builders who operate in the Drury area of South Auckland?

I'm looking at buying a lifestyle property there but the house will need extending.

Hi there a change of mind buying the pub down on the east coast then Sorry I don't know of anyone but you could try the main stream line of home builders like Golden homes, Jenian homes, that kind of thing as sometimes they do alterations too. But I heard that to get a decent registered MB your looking at 6 months + away. Good luck

Getting a good builder at the mo is about as scarce as seeing a silver Chimaera at a TVR meet.
The pub sounds better, specially the free drinks for Pistonheaders bit.

The pubs is an aim but we need to start thinking about my daughters education. I'm going to use the next year to get up to speed with some more 'desireable' IT skills and then see what happens. I think we'll need to live in the Napier/Hastings area for a while before we know where to target for our pub.

The property we're looking at in Drury is on 5 acres so there'll be plenty of room for Pistonheader's cars and I may build a prototype pub as a training exercise! There are some great roads around there so it could be a good stop-off point.

Anyway, first we have to see if we can afford it, then put in an acceptable offer to the vendors!

Jamie.... you want a good place for your pub... set up in Havelock North.... it's TAKEN OFF in the past few years... it is not the sleepy vilage I grew up in any more... it's become the social HUB of Hawkes Bay

Hi,

Jamie, I know what you mean about more desirable IT skills, Ive just had to return to the UK after 2 years in NZ.

I couldn't get a suitable role in IT, apart from a 3mth contract when i first arrived Jan, '03. So i learnt how to become a signalman in Auckland - stuck at that for 15mths but shiftwork/conditions and impact on family life meant i had to leave.

I found NZ very short sighted when it comes to skill shortages, they want the people but not willing to invest in training, and wonder why these young gradutaes/twentysomethings leave to go to UK/Oz and soon as they have the experience to make there money.

Ageism is rife in IT as well !

I do intend coming back but not for a while.

Interesting programme called The Heist on C4 las night about stealing the prototype Sagaris and shipping it to Belgium.

Regards

Trevor Price

Or kitchen benches *looks at nztrev* ....... or you can call me if you want a controlled-environment anoxic display case for the missus... or possibly a 60kg payload industrial meat processing robot? Make chopping up steaks a breeze at the summer barbie :P

*sigh* I long for the day when I can tag along in my wedge... although it's not a TVR wedge... ok well not a COMPLETE TVR wedge :P Would be nice to see more Chims out and about.... it's odd because I'd always have thought that it'd be like the UK where Chims seem to be more common than griffs.... not here it seems.

Yip we're a rare breed us NZ Chimer's,one 500 here and one 570 on it's way(not for the road off course).
I kicked myself for getting rid off the Griff, but now I honestly prefer the looks of the Chim specialy its rear end.
Sorry what topic were we on,thats right finding Jamie a builder for his latest project.
Jamie, if you built your Mansion in the shape of a Ultima on your lifestyle block with a pub in it,i'm sure you'd find your Nivarna

Well the deal is done! We've purchased the property and we're completing on 21st January. We're going to keep the rental going for a week or two afterwards so we can clean the new place up and work out where we're going to fit 200 square-metres worth of house furniture into a two bedroom 100 square metre cottage!

I think a garage may be on the cards first up (mainly for storage) but I don't think the TVR will see much of it. There'll be some work done on it over Xmas and we'll try and sell it shortly after that. I guess it will be a while before I have anything I'd be willing to bring out with you boys (although with a different chip my Scoobie would probably dish out a couple of bloody-noses!).

The ultima will have to wait.

We'll definitely be in the market for a new kitchen at some point so you guys may well get some of my business!
