Yes we know the gravel will put some people off but there is simply no way to enjoy forgotten highway with out going on the gravel.

So we made the call.

About 8km of Gravel in the middle - I have taken 2 TVRs through on delivery trips south from Auckland ..... okay it slows you up - BUT the rest of the road has to be driven to be believed - awesome bit of driving road - albeit I saw a lot half sideways..... take the gravel bit slow - you will be fine. The gravel does not kick up to bad....

As for the Stratford to Whangamomona bit of road - wow ... Never saw a cop when I went through - and the locals ae very good at keeping an eye on their revision mirrors - just watch out for the weekend motorcyclists.
