Ok - I'll start things - that was the worst bit of over scripted TV i've seen in a while. How many times did he crash that car while there was a TV camera placed to film it?
And while I havn't been north of Auckland for some time im pretty sure there's a paved road to Cape Reinga!!

When last did you watch an episode that wasn't over scripted?
It was actually one of their better shows IMO.

You just need to accept it's been scripted to hell.

I accept Top Gear is over scripted at the best of times (one of my most hated being the BL challenge) but I particularly disliked that episode, whether thats because of the subject matter or because it was truely worse it got me thinking there cant be too many seasons left in it.

I've gone from downloading every episode minutes after it airs in the UK to not being able to be arsed to download it.... it's always been scripted, it's just that the scripting used to be clever, now (and for about the last 4 seasons, but getting steadily worse) it's basically slapstick.

I do still get the downloaded episodes from friends, I quite like having them to watch again if they were any good.

If you think episode one was slapstick, wait until episode four with the hovercraft. I won't spoil it but there's no better description for it than slapstick.

It's always been more of an entertainment show about cars but it's getting a bit childish now, never thought I'd say that. Clarkson wears a Katmandu jacket while on the river Avon, bit of an NZ connection there smile

The New Zealand race was pretty disappointing. A shame they didn't show much more of the country, the filming looked very limited. I dont think many people were fooled by his accidents, though I admit I laughed at the first one. They could have done so much more with it.

Like someone else said earlier - I used to watch this as soon as it was out in the UK, now I dont bother at all. Ran out of fks to give

2008 I did a day trip from Auckland to Cape Reinga. At that time the last 20 km was metal which was hard yakka in the Atom. I believe its sealed all the way now.
