My speedo on the Elise is flicking back to zero on a regular basis, one second its OK next it starts flickering about just like a rev counter when the throttle is blipped, anyone know an easy fix. It did this to me a few years back and I sent it to some guys in downtown Auckland but I've forgotten their name so if anyone can enlighten me or suggest an alternative(George??)I'd appreciate it.BOP region would be good as I'm in Rotorua these days.

Electrical connections.

Mine does funny things when the lights are on. I have cleaned up the earthing points which improved things a bit but the rev counter still jumps round a bit and the temperature and fuel readings rise and fall once the lights are on.

Theres an earthing point in the front by the battery and another behind the boot liner. I think the stack dash has a connector or earthing point somewhere but havent looked too closely at it yet.

Good to hear you're still alive Mark!

Usually this is just a loose connection in at the wheel speed sensor, I think it's taken from the left rear wheel on the S160? Also, sometimes the sensor and toothed ring can get a bit corroded/dirty and a good clean-up helps to bring them back to reliable operation.

99% of the time the problem is with the connection or the sender before you go pulling the Stack apart smile

I removed the left rear wheel and took the sensor off cleaned it and the gear, took the car for a drive it flickered a bit and then settled down, only a short run but seemed OK, will give it a long run in the weekend to check but all in all looks like a success.

Fingers crossed smile

If it's changed its behaviour a bit then chances the sensor is bung.

It's item #13 on the deroure link and deroure list the price as £17.90, so it's not going to break the bank to order/fit a new one if it still plays up. Certainly cheaper than even looking at the Stack to start with smile
