Does anyone know of any specialist supercar dealerships in New Zealand. I hear it is a great place to export cars too and that it is an up and coming market. My friend works at a highly reputable supercar dealership in the UK and he was saying he is actively looking for a dealership in New Zealand to export cars to. If someone can help point me in a direction then we may be able to set up a very lucrative business partnership.

Send them to me and I'll store them whilst they are listed on TradeMe.

I have a contact in Africa who needs help transfering some funds from an account he set up when he was a government official. If someone can help with that it might be a very lucrative business partnership. wink

All joking aside. There are hundereds of secound hand car importers in NZ. Imported cars are nothing new in NZ, so I'd hardly call it "an up and coming market". Infact you'll find plenty of competiton. The sector even has it's own membership body called Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association Incorporated (IMVIA), formed in 1989. www.imvia.co.nz/

Also you may have a problem with some luxury models, that may require specialist parts or service, in that the official dealers might not offer the same support.

I'd argue that given the supercars that sit on TradeMe for years unsold, NZ is not a great market. Sure there are big profits to be had here but turnover is so low that it's easy to get stuck with unsaleable stock or to saturated your market quickly.

There were more registrations of ex-overseas (used-imports) cars than new cars in New Zealand during 2011.

80,852 out of the 144,871 (55.81%) of last year's registrations of new cars (including ex-overseas).
