Hi All,

Currently looking into a potential relocation to Auckland, but one prerequisite is that I can take my toys with me... Saying that, I have heard that a Cerb registration in NZ will be difficult because of emission and front impact rules (?)

However I read some post here about exceptions for two door sport cars (such as the Cerbera), but can't find the relevant information on the NZTA website. Can anyone show me the light and let me know if there is a way to get it registered please? Car is a 1999 AJP4.2 -

Cheers!

Is this what you're after? http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/factsheets/44b/s...
Email me at colombo@psy.otago.ac.nz and I'll send you a copy of all the steps I went through to get my 1999 UK car registered in NZ (I just did this for someone else so it's on the computer and all ready to go).

A Special Interest Vehicle is what you're looking at. Search the term "SIV" and you should find lots of info. on the process and other's experiences.

Here's a couple links to the relevant NZTA pages:

Sweeper, it shouldn't be too much of an issue to get the car through SIV, however the additional exemptions may be time consuming. My 2003 4.5 is now on the roads in NZ (when the clutch doesnt fail). However note that it's one of the cleanest that Rob Ingelby has ever seen with very little surface corrosion on the chassis (which had to be cleaned up) and no repairs. Repair to the chassis will require a repair cert (which are a pain in the arse), which your car is more than likely to have had at some stage.
As such if your 4.2 is very clean has had no repair (including repaint) with a little work it should be on the roads in NZ. Forget it if there is any rust in the chassis members or it's had major repairs in it's life.

Thanks for guiding me chaps, that was exactly the links I was looking for! Car is clean and except for a frontend respray because of stone chippings (does this count already?) no major repairs.

Will have a read through the documents and shout if I have more questions. Cheers.
