I hope we make it to the finish Mark - a lot of fast kms to survive! See you there.
Anyone got any cheap accommodation recommendations for Taupo, Palmy and Havelock North? Team PH shoestring is staying with family in Auckland, a bach up north and camping in a hanger at Ardmore for the first 3 days! Who says motorsport is glamorous?
Put an S2 gearbox in the car yesterday - seems to be an improvement and being a lot stronger should be reliable. Still got to do all the usual checks and install the GPS tracker. Its going to be a busy few weeks.

At the moment we're full but there is always a chance of a cancellation - how many do you need a room for?(Perhaps I should have got in early with my motel sponsorship?)

Hi Iain,
I met you on the Targa a few years back, I was crewing for the '77 924 with the rotary engine in it.
I have an '86 the same colour as yours. I believe you told me a few degrees negative camber does great things and you're right, it did!
Good luck for the targa, I don't think we're doing it this year.

Thanks for the good wishes.. will be driving for a finish rather than to beat everything. Hopefully that will result in a safe run.
You only have to travel up to PN area, or into the Wirarapa (at the Tui Brewery on Saturday morning) if you want to have a look at the action.
I remember you guys in the rotary 924.. I think I gave you some 2 stroke oil at a service halt??
Had a look at your website - some interesting stuff there. Was the diff swap a difficult thing to do? and are Audi diffs hard to find? I was thinking that something around a 4.44:1 would work well with the 16" wheels. We currently run 15" as the overall gearing is better that way with the 3.875:1 final drive in the S2 box.

Just about ready now.. scrutineering passed, spares & tools sorted, car has been spanner checked. Load the service van on Thurs and I'm heading North on Friday. Doing the trip in two bits - overnight in a friends bach in rarimu. Give me a wave if you see the car.
I'll try and upload a few words here during the event.
