Did anyone notice the small news item about Haydon Paddon and John Kennard winning the PWRC? We have another World Champion in motorsport and the media is more interested in Rugby.
What do you think the chances are of them getting a chance at Sportsman of the Year or Sporting Team of the Year? Might make a good Tui advert, "Yer Right"

He's been winning rallies by record margins too, and sealed it off with two rounds to go - finishing 6th overall at WRC Aus as well as winning PWRC class.

But as you say, its not rugby!

I don't think it not being rugby is anywhere near as big a problem (in the minds of those who decide these things) as it is ONLY being the "Production Class"

Fair point - similar story with all the publicity Richie Stanaway hasn't had from cleaning up German F3 this year because its 'only F3' not F1.

I think the best comment I've heard of late was about Scott Dixon. He is a super star in the USA. He can't walk down the street without getting ask for his autograph, but in New Zealand the public don't know who he is. If the All Blacks go for a training run in the Auckland Domain it is the second story in on the news that night. Ask someone in the USA who the All Blacks are....
I think we need someone who understands the sport to start promoting what these guys, and girls, are up to, and what a big deal it is. People are impressed that 60 000 when to Eden Park, 250 000 went to LeMans this year!

Good idea, we also just need coverage of a wider variety of sport, there is more going on in the world than rugby, league, cricket, and netball. I'm a bit sick of not being able to see what's going on around the world. You could easily fill a couple of channels with motorsport that's not that single marque v8's rubbish. There's no end of other sports out there too that we're missing out on. I've been lucky enough to live in North America and Europe and really miss what's going on, at least there's a bit on the net.

yes

Our hockey teams are pretty competitive internationally but you don't see them on TV very often either. Hopefully that might change with the Champions Trophy being hosted here this year.

TV station here in the UAE did a 20 minute segment on Hayden's season last week that they keep repeating..... he seems the real deal that's for sure.

I see he took out the Ashley Forest sprint with a 57.1s run in Steve Murphy's V8 Cordia, not bad!

Top bloke too actually, really friendly down to earth guy with none of that 'superstar' attitude that successful young drivers sometimes suffer from.
