I'm going to be up in Akl for a few weeks and I'm thinking I might take the opportunity to bring the Elise up so I can give Hampton Downs a go.

Does anyone have any experience of the the 'drive your own car' days at Hampton Downs? They were the only events I could see on their website between now and the end of July. Sounds like they're run in a similar format to Playdayontrack, but it would be good to find out what other think - good, bad or otherwise.

Perhaps a PH drive/beer could also be on the cards??

Cheers,

Edit: eydoubleyou, used to be wilkco...

I think the slight different is that the attendees could be any random drivers rather than being on the PlayDayOnTrack email list.

Thanks. I won't make this weekend's event, (I'm here in Akl but the car isn't) but hopefully I can get along to the one on the 2nd July.

Yep, keen to catch up. I'm back to Welly for a few days next weekend and then I'll drive back north in the Elise.

Yeah.. some of the worst driving I've ever seen has been at playdays.... having said that it wasn't that bad.

I think I've yet to go to a trackday I've not been happy in the overall driving standard..... there have been a few muppets, but they're generally easy to spot and easier to avoid.

No no Ben. If you want to be one of those muppets you need to be driving a Falcon . . . shedding so much brakepad material that it ignites at the end of the main straight each lap banghead

Agree. It doesn't matter who the event is organised by, it's always worth paying attention in the early sessions to find those best avoided - there's always at least one...

Had a great sunny drive up through the Island. Now hoping for some more sunshine over the weekend!

Keen to catch-up with others at some point. Any recommendations for a good 'Sunday drive' spot?

Well, I made it to Hampton Downs today. Not many cars, plenty of sunshine, plenty of space on track, and much fun in the Elise driving

What a track. Brilliant!
